Full description
Discover a glorious “Garden of Eden” on a full-day tour of Sintra, a paradise resort of fairytale palaces and ornate architecture just outside Lisbon. Discover why this charming village delighted poets, artists, and authors, including Hans Christian Andersen and Lord Byron. Your tour includes a look inside Pena Palace, designed in a magnificent mix of Manueline and Moorish styles. Learn how its exotic and eclectic profusion of styles follows the rules of Romanticism. Pass the Castle of the Moors and enjoy breathtaking views from its towers. Next, drive to Cabo da Roca at the westernmost point of mainland Europe. Look at the wild Atlantic Ocean from Guincho Beach, and keep your eyes open for surfers on the waves of the Estoril Coast. Stop in the former fishing village of Cascais, now part of the Portuguese Riviera and a place of exile for European royalty. Head back to Lisbon along the “Marginal” road, following the Atlantic to see white sand beaches and magnificent 17th-century forts.

Beautiful trip! Slightly misleading description of activities

Our tour guide Ana was excellent, very friendly and accommodating. We read the tour as including Quinta de Regaleira, but apparently this is not a normal part of the tour. Ana graciously carved out time for a quick tour, but had she not, we would have missed out on a key part of Sintra. Our tour included a trip to Pena palace with optional entry (although it was effectively not optional), a drive by of the Quinta de Regaleira (not a stop to go in as we had thought), walking around the village of Sintra with a typical Portuguese lunch, stopping at the Cabo de Roca but not boca de inferno, and stopping in cascais briefly to walk around for about 30 minutes. We loved all of it, although would have been happier with the tour itself had it properly included Quinta de Regaleira. Couldn’t be happier with our tour guide, however.

Our guide (Rui) was wonderful. He was able to entertain four couples from different countries with ease. Highly recommend the trip, even though it was pouring rain for a while. The sights are lovely and the drive is scenic. Rui picked us up on time and we traveled to our destinations in a comfortable Mercedes van. He had enthusiasm and was warm and personable from the moment he greeted everyone. Sintra was so colorful and Cascais was charming.

We enjoyed a private tour just my friend and me, despite booking a tour for up to 8 people, which was a luxury and very enjoyable for us! Ana was an amazing guide, totally made our day! She was flexible adapting the tour according to our wishes and needs, showed us more than planned and brought us to amazing local places for breakfast and lunch :) Could only recommend!
