After reaching the karst — that is, the limestone surface — the river not only deepens its riverbed through erosion but also corrosion; it dissolves the limestone and creates the caves. Explore the Škocjan Caves with a local, English-speaking guide on this half-day trip from Ljubljana. Our last stop is the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana. We will start our tour in front of the Town Hall and continue through the historical city center. Gaze at its mixture of Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture and masterful creations by the 20th century architect Jože Plečnik. Stroll around the medieval old town and visit the New and Old Markets, the Triple Bridge, and the Dragon Bridge. Conclude the tour with a funic­u­lar ride, which departs from Krekov Square and goes up to the Ljubl­jana Cas­tle.
