Ljubljana: Kranjska Gora and the Alps

3. Ljubljana: Kranjska Gora and the Alps

Your first stop on your amazing trip will be to Kranjska Gora, a small ski resort famous as the traditional setting of World Cup downhill-skiing competitions. You can take a nice walk to the picturesque Jasna Lake, before enjoying a cup of coffee with an amazing view over the Julian Alps. Afterwards, you can visit the Liznjek House, a farmhouse which was the richest homestead in Kranjska Gora, and today operates as an ethnographic museum. At this museum you will be able to discover rich original furnishings, as well as great presentations of what living conditions were like a few hundred years ago. After a traditional Slovenian lunch, you will be taken to the beautiful Lake Zelenci. This fairy tale lake does not freeze in the winter, due to the constant temperature of 6 degrees which it maintains throughout the year. After Zelenci, you will have time to experience the magic of a world-famous mountain valley, where the first ever ski-flying hill was built in 1969. It is also the site where numerous world records for the longest ski flights were set. You will also have plenty of possibilities to do winter activities such as zip lining (weekends only), snow-shoeing and sledding. If you don’t wish to do winter activities, you can still admire the view over the Tamar Valley and cross-country stadium, or even try out the ski-jumps simulator.

Plitvice National Park: Private Trip from Ljubljana

4. Plitvice National Park: Private Trip from Ljubljana

Discover the remarkable Plitvice National Park in all its glory with a private trip from Ljubljana. Arrive at Plitvice, walking through these ancient woodlands led by a private guide. The path takes us first across Gornja Jezera (Upper Lakes), a system of 12 lakes separated by travertine barriers. Take a peaceful boat ride towards the second area called Donja Jezera (Lower Lakes), placed in a limestone canyon. See why its travertine marble formations are such an extraordinary natural phenomenon. The barriers, sills, and other forms created in these lakes, karst rivers, and streams are still an ongoing process. Stand in front of the Big Waterfall, 78 meters high, and bear witness to the roaring thunder of the water as it hits the ground. It is these same travertine formations that have and are still creating the numerous magnificent waterfalls here.

From Koper: Small Group Slovenian Coastal Villages Tour

5. From Koper: Small Group Slovenian Coastal Villages Tour

The area's delicious, fresh seafood and excellent wines are sure to satisfy even the most demanding visitors so make sure you experience the culinary side of the cities too and relax with a lovely dish.

What people are saying about Ljubljana

Our favorite tour of our entire stay in Slovenia! Our guide Jascha was outstanding and went out of his way to show us the best spots in and around Triglav National Park. Amazing waterfalls, views of the mountains, and stunning lakes. Highlights: Vintgar Gorge, Jasna Lake, and Pericnik waterfall. Definitely worth a visit! Tip: If you are staying in Ljubljana, ask your guide to let you out at Lake Bled end of the day to grab the last boat to the island on the lake - we got to experience it in peace and quiet and at sunset. Then, take a bus back into the capital for only a few bucks.

We had a lovely tour in the triglav NP. The tourguide Primo is sure to show you around some of the best spots and views on the northeast side of the park. The walks were relatively easy and rewarding. There was a nice balance between hiking and driving. Primo is very knowledgable about the area and it was great learning from him. It took care to check if everyone was happy and content throughout the tour and even took some great pictures. All in all a very nice tour, we would be happy to book another tour next time we visit!

We had an amazing day! We really enjoyed the nature and the scenery. The trip was jam-packed with beautiful places -- if you only have time to do one excursion from Ljubljana, I highly recommend this one. Jaša was an amazing tour guide (and driver)! We learned so much on the trip and had a lovely time. The hikes were really awesome, and we had enough time to go for a dip in lake Bohinj -- which was our highlight of the day.

I booked this trip for me and my brothers and turns out - it was the best decision ever! We saw so much beautiful nature, waterfalls, valleys.. And the hikes are more fun than hard. We had a perfect day and recommend to book this trip for an adventure!! ☺

It was a very interesting excursion with fantastic vegetation!
