Midday Concert at Lobkowicz Palace
- Duration: 1 hour
The Lobkowicz family inherited this castle in 1627, long before both the Nazis and the Communists seized it. Back in the family’s hands, today it operates as an incredible museum and the only private building in the Prague castle complex.
Some of the most formative music ever, including Beethoven’s 4th symphony and Mozart’s re-orchestration of Handel’s Messiah, can be viewed here, written by the masters themselves.
The entire collection is some 1,500 paintings. The jewels of the collection are Brueghel’s influential “Haymaking” and Canaletto’s two cityscapes of London.
The castle showcases military and sporting rifles and pistols from the 18th to 20th centuries, along with an impressive collection of armor.
This prime example of an aristocratic library is home to many manuscripts dating back to the Middle Ages or earlier, like a small, precious section of the Gospel of Mark.
A midday classical concert is performed each day in the stunning baroque concert hall. There's a varied program, featuring works by baroque, classical and 19th-century Czech composers. Buy combo tickets to save on the concert and castle admission.
The castle complex opens at 9:00AM, so make it up there a little before. Have an hour walking around, experiencing a bird’s-eye view of Prague, before the Lobkowicz Palace’s opening hours begin at 10:00AM. You’ll be thankful when you see the crowd in the afternoon.
Eat an early hotel breakfast and treat yourself to lunch in the Lobkowicz Palace cafe—it’s about as close to royalty as you can get!
The one-hour-long tour guide walks you through focal points of European history, narrated by a living Lobkowicz. It’s musical, engaging, and available in 8 different languages.

There are quite a few stairs to climb and descend, which we weren't expecting. Also, do get there a bit earlier as the majority of rows are unreserved. We would have liked to be able to watch the pianist playing. However, excellent performance, beautiful setting.
Experienced musicians in a beautiful Castle environment! After the concert I recommend to take a coffee at the terras un the Lobkowicz castle to enjoy the view over Prague city.
get to the castle early as some times the que can be long for security check at castle entrance but always but don't need to queue for too long
