Full description
Step inside this faithful recreation of William Shakespeare’s iconic Globe Theatre. Imagine it as it would have been at the center of London’s notorious Bankside entertainment district. Throughout the year, expert guides bring this extraordinary open-air theatre to life on a 50-minute guided tour, with colorful stories of the 1599 Globe, the reconstruction process in the 1990s, and how the building works today as an imaginative and experimental theater space. Take a seat ‘within this wooden O,’ then listen, absorb, and ask questions as the secrets of the Globe unfold. Following your tour, eat your way through the twists and turns of Shakespeare’s best-loved plays with an enchanting afternoon tea at Swan at the Globe, the theatre's on-site bar and restaurant. This exquisite experience puts a theatrical twist on afternoon tea, with plays such as ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ serving as inspiration. Tea is served in the Swan’s beautiful dining room which overlooks St. Paul’s Cathedral, the bustling Bankside, and the majestic River Thames. Take in the stunning views of London whilst enjoying a selection of finger sandwiches, warm scones, and sweet delicacies. Try themed fancies with names such as Oberon’s Contempt, Bittersweet Lips, and Here in Heaven, displayed in tiered stands and served on beautiful bespoke crockery decorated with illustrations inspired by the plays. This is an immersive Shakespearean experience not to be missed.

Great venue! Organistation needs streamlining

The tour as such was fantastic, we had a superb guide (a Welshman). The exhibition is overloaded and difficult to follow, even using the audioguide. Organisational weaknesses: the get-your-guide platform directed us to a free tour slot at 14:00. The voucher received afterwards stated 10:45 as meeting time for the tour at 11:00, and 14:00-15:00 as timing for the Afternoon Tea. I wrote a mail to the Globe with a polite request for clarification. The day before the event a nice lady called me that the final meeting time is 11:45 for 12:00. Moreover we were informed that there will be places for us for the Afternoon Tea at the bar of the restaurant, not at a table which was a pity and influenced the overall atmosphere. Too many unclarities and improvisation!

A very worthwhile experience.

Thoroughly enjoyable. Feel there should be more thought into meeting up for the tour as that was a little haphazard. With so many people around, visitors need clear and concise directions (thus avoiding the constant questions that employees must get tired of fielding). With the afternoon tea, the procedure there was a little hit and miss. Exactly how to go about getting in for that likewise needs more detail. Otherwise, very happy.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience. High tea was outstanding!

After some confusion regarding a place in the tour - arrive very, very early as spots are contested??? We had a wonderful experience. The tour was very interesting and informative and we couldn't wait to see the production (which was brilliant!) But first, afternoon tea... what a wonderful surprise. It exceeded expectation and was extremely delicious and lots of fun. I can't wait for another chance to visit London so I can do it all again. Highly recommended.
