From the meeting point in Avignon, set off to the village of Lacoste, once the residence of the Marquis de Sade, for a photo stop. Your tour guide will show you the must-see landscape of Luberon. On the way to Roussillon, take a look at the Roman bridge Pont Julien, one of the numerous Roman remains in Provence. Arrive in Roussillon and admire how the village is built at the top of an ochre cliff, as well as the ochre-washed façades of its buildings. Next, head toward Gordes, another village erected on the top of a cliff, and discover its fortified castle and church. Meet a real truffle hunter and learn how this elusive, edible “black gold” is cultivated and how the truffle dogs are trained. With the help of your guide, you will soon find some truffles to try. Learn about the art of growing truffle trees, training truffle dogs, and finding truffles. In this charming village, you will have a look at the famous Renaissance castle, considered a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture style (traditional open air market every Friday morning). Continue to the hilltop village of Bonnieux through the picturesque and winding route called the Combe of Lourmarin, which crosses the Luberon's mountain from south to north. Have free time in the village overlooking the Luberon hill range. Continue toward the colorful village of Roussillon and its ochre cliffs, you will be impressed by all the different ochre color use to paint the buildings and houses of the village.
