An absolute must do if you are staying in Lucerne. A quick bus ride to the Mt. Pilatus Cableway Base station where we had to show our voucher to get the actual ticket. One can then ride the Cableway, the Dragon Back (Another Cableway, the Cogwheel Tram down and finally the boat ride back to Lucerne. All a short walk apart. There were no times set an one could spend as much time as you liked exploring and experiencing the Swiss Alps. The Toboggan ride at the summit was an optional extra, but great fun.

The views were spectacular, especially if you went up to the various lookouts. We stopped at Frakmuntegg o the way up, and my daughter and son-in-law did the ropes course...quite challenging at times. My husband and I played around in the kids section (not as strenuous). LOL. We spend 2 1/2. hours there, and ate lunch. After enjoying the top, we took the cog wheel train down (quite impressive) but decided to forego the boat ride and took the train back since we spend so much time in Frakmuntegg. If you can get yourself up early, the trip will be much nicer. We encountered very few tourists. We started at 8:15 on the bus.

A must do experience! We did reverse order (boat, cogwheel, cable car, bus) and really enjoyed it in that order. Views from the top are phenomenal! Be sure to print out a copy of your vouchers. You have to go to the ticket office at the bottom of the cogwheel to exchange the printed vouchers for actual tickets. Don’t go directly to the ticket taker or you will waste time in that line, and then get told to go to the ticket office. Alpine slide is worth doing, as much for the great ride down as for the tow back up the hill with amazing views and cows within ten feet of you. Was an absolutely fantastic day all around!
