Brilliant ride down from Monte Palace Gardens to the Botanical Gardens over the ravine. Done this way round the latter is a downhill exploration of the beautiful gardens (and the hillside is steep!). You can pay for a combined ticket for the cable car and gardens at the top. Or with this ticket garden entrance is €6 payable at the bottom as you enter. You have to go through the gardens, there is no exit to the road. From the main entrance bus nos 31 and 31A take you down to near Sāo Lourenço Palace on the front or it's a 40 minute walk. The route is easy to follow, but steep and has spectacular views of the harbour and town. If you're going to use the bus get a Giro card from the yellow Horarios booths on Avenida do Mar and pay for however many journeys you want - cost per ride €1.35 versus €1.95 on the bus. The Giro card costs a one off payment of €0.50. If you buy ten tickets at a time they cost €1.25 each.

Be aware that this is the second of two cable cars you can use

Cable car was great, but it is half way u8pmthe mountains outside Funchal. You either have to take a bus or taxi to the start of this cable car or take another cable car fron Funchal itself .This starts close to the market and takes you up half wat to the Monte gardens. A 10 minute walk takes you to the start of the second cable car to the Botanical Gardens. Trip and gardens are great just remember the journey to get their!

A chance to see how sailers of yesterday travelled. The crew were very good and stopped to allow us to see the dolphins that were swimming nearby. You can go for a swim if you want, into warm Atlantic Ocean. Approx 3hours duration that went far too quickly. Very relaxing. Would recommend.

We had a good trip, the boat replica looks good. We were lucky to see dolphins. It would have been excellent if the experience was more lively with the staff, we found them a bit quiet. Overall good experience and would recommend.

It was a really beautiful, unique way to see the sights and we also saw dolphins which was amazing! The guides were really nice and the free cake and wine was a nice bonus too. I'd definitely recommend
