Full description
Caminito del Rey is a one-direction walkway, which starts at the North access (Ardales) and ends at the South access (Álora). This walking tour begins at Conde de Guadalhorce Dam, a water reserve in Malaga. Learn about the history of the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes canyon, which was carved by the Guadalhorce River. The construction of a water channel from the reservoirs in the north to El Chorro included building a pathway for maintaining the channel. The path is known as El Caminito del Rey (King's Little Pathway), as it was inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII. Encounter a footbridge over 3 kilometers long, built on the walls of the Gaitanes Gorge (Desfiladero de los Gaitanes). Experience one of the most beautiful natural spots in the province. During some stretches, the route reaches heights of up to 101 meters. Although the best-known stretch of the route is the footbridge, the total journey of the Caminito del Rey is 7.7 kilometers (4.8 miles).

Breathtaking walk. The trip provided 3.5 hours. In fact, you are only 2 hours on the Caminito, which is the nicest. The rest of the time is the way to it and the way back, while walking. We were lucky. The day before our trip, the Caminito was closed due to too strong wind.

Exceptionally sensational! To do, you will not regret it!

A beautiful 3 ½ hour walk through nature and the beautiful canyon! However, do not be dizzy because there are passages on the mountainside on a bridge 1 meter wide and 80 meters below! And the pompon of the end, the crossing of a mountain to another on a metal walkway! To do to do !!!

A spectacular hike, which also requires a bit of fitness. One should, because nowhere mentioned, consider the weather: In strong winds access is blocked! Thanks to GetYourGuide for helping with the rebooking for exactly this reason. The return trip, which is only possible by bus, must be self-regulated, but buses run every half hour. All in all a very worthwhile goal!
