A must do if you like to be independent and away from group tours. Bike to Salsalito. Steep climbs can be handled in first gear. Take water. Spend the day shopping in Salsalito or take bus from Salsalito 30 min. to Mier woods. The woods are ok but very big tourist stop. Fun if you want to get out of the city for the day. 3 mile walk at the Woods or more if you like. If you are tired eat at the best burger place in the world in the oldest building in Salsalito then ferry back. We biked back because in the am it was cloudy when we crossed the bridge and we wanted another look.

The cruise started at 11am. We traveled west along the shore line and the narrator described all the pertinent landmarks including the Presidio, the forts and the Palace of Fine Arts. We passed the Golden Gate Bridge and the view was amazing. On the way back we saw Sausalito, Angel Island, Alcatraz and more of the San Francisco cityscape. This cruise should be a requirement for any first time visitor.
