Full description

Pass thorugh stunning valleys and the Atlas Mountains on this 2-day trip from Marrakech. Travel through the Draa valley to Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate. Stay overnight in a desert camp in Zagora, ride a camel in the Sarhara, and enjoy a delicious dinner and breakfast.

Day 1:

Depart early in the morning from Marrakech. Be stunned by the valleys and hills as you travel 7400 feet up in your air-conditioned vehicle. Arrive at the ksar (fortified city) of Ait Ben Haddou, which is located along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech.

Capture pictures of the city of Ait Ben Haddou which has served as the backdrop for films such as “Lawrence of Arabia”, “Time Bandits”, “Kundun”, “The Mummy”, and many more. See why it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1989. Stop to purchase lunch at a local restaurant. Drive to Ouarzazate which home to film studios and famous sandstone buildings and desert scenery. Cruise through the inspiring Anti Atlas Mountains (Tizi N Tnifift), as well as lush valleys of Agdz and the Draa valley.

Arrive in Zagora and ride a well-trained camel through the desert as the sun sets over the sand. Stop at your campsite and tuck into a hearty dinner before sleeping like a local in an authentic Berber tent.

Day 2: Wake up with the sunrise and enjoy a view of the dunes as you ride your camel back to Zagora. Travel back to Ouarzazate by car, stopping to purchase lunch in Taouirt Kabah. After lunch, return to Marrakech, where the tour concludes.

THE experience has been very good, we have seen many more things than we expected and the experience of the desert. The worst: the tents have no ventilation and it's too hot to sleep. The best: the treatment of the staff is very good, dinner and breakfast very good, we loved riding the camels and the visits along the way are great.

The truth is that it was better than expected, the journey by car is very long but you will see beautiful landscapes and stop many times to rest. The guide that touched us was super nice, attentive and spoke Spanish very well. In the desert I guess we were lucky because we were only 3 couples and they treated us great. The only thing I would change would be the camel ride that destroys your ass.

Very nice experience, it is certainly tiring since we leave at 8 in the morning and arrive at the camp just before 20. After dinner, which was good, a very suggestive bonfire was lit in the center of the camp, around which the guides played and sang. The only negative note was the sleep in the tent, a really excessive heat that did not allow us to sleep. However we were cheered by a beautiful sunrise at 6am. Another sore point were the drinks, not even half a bottle of water was included (they charged us € 2 per bottle). Bring enough money with you to buy lots of water, for the two lunches at the restaurant, to pay the ksar guide (we paid 25 dhs per person), to eventually visit the various places of interest (I don't know the prices because we don't have them seen because of the heat) and to leave tips always welcome.
