Full description

Sleep beneath the desert stars at a Berber campsite on an unforgettable dunes experience from Marrakech. Visit UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, the Valley of the Roses, and Tinghir. Stop at traditional Berber villages around the Todra Gorge and trek with a camel through the Erg Chebbi dunes, the highest in Morocco

Day 1: Marrakech - Tinghir

Your shared 3-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga will start early in the morning. Head to Ait Benhaddou through the Tizi Ntichka pass and the high Atlas Mountains. Make many stops along the way. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, which also served as a set for various Hollywood blockbusters. Continue to Ouarzazate and Kasbah Taourirte before lunch. In the afternoon, drive to Tinghir via the Valley of the Roses before you reach your hotel located in Tinghir. Dinner and overnight.

 Day 2: Tinghir – Merzouga

After breakfast at your hotel in Tinghir, your journey will start today with a drive along the road of 1001 Kasbah to the Oasis of Tinghir, where you will deviate to a minor road driving along the river to Todra canyons

After some time at leisure to enjoy the immensity of the huge cliffs, and lunch at a local café (at your leisure), continue early in the afternoon to Erfoud, famous for its date market, and a starting point of the ancient trading caravans crossing the Sahara desert to Tombouctou.

Continue to Merzouga driving through some rocky desert landscape. Upon arrival at the edge of Erg Chebbi dunes, meet your camel caravan, and ride your camels through the amazing color-changing dunes with the sunset on the horizon as a backdrop. Reach your Sahara Desert camp, nestled in the middle of nowhere just before darkness.

After some time to admire the dunes and the surrounding landscapes, get ready for a Moroccan dinner served under the stars next to a campfire. Late at night, enjoy Berber music with the local hosts playing drums

Day 3: Merzouga – Marrakech

After an early breakfast and a camel ride back to the main road, meet your driver and head back to Marrakech. Enjoy lunch on the road as you pass the Valley of Roses, and continue through the high atlas mountains to Marrakech. Finish your desert tour in Marrakech around 8 PM.

A dark and early start saw us make for merzouga by taxi ride. We eventually arrived at the Sahara the following evening and while this duration might be enough to deter people from this trip, it needn’t… (contd. below). Our driver, Hisham Damou, shout out to him by the way; he was an utter gent, allowed for plenty of stops. In one such stop we were shown around the ancient city known as Kasbah by the worlds foremost film extra and stocked up on reasonably priced head scarfs for our pending desert trek. The following day we continued on to the Sahara but made yet another memorable stop where we met a small Berber family living in mountains and who work a small field & sell beautiful handmade Moroccan rugs to get by. We couldn’t leave without bringing one of those with us! Once we got to the desert we jumped on our camels and trekked to a spot to sandboard and see in the sunset. My camel, Craig, was an absolute champ albeit a bit uncomfortable!

We thank marrakesh travel services for a 3 day adventure we had this week. We saw many great and intersting things including nature, berbers, charming towns etc. But i want to let you know this was the best trip we had ever because of Jamal Roubio (our driver), Jamal made this trip to be perfect, relaxing and fun. Without Jamal this trip would not be even close to good. We want to thank Jamal so much and hope to see him again.

I have never had an experience like it. My wife and myself loved every minute. We had Mohammad a very experienced tour guide and driver who was very accommodating, friendly and it would do anything possible to please you (one of the group didn’t have enough money, he happily lent her some). Anyway the tour, Ait Benhaddou is a fabulous place, a bit of hilly walking but it is well worth it, the hotel was nice clean and the food was great, Erg Chebbi is a wonderful place but the camels just finish off an amazing tour. Now I’ll be honest I was scared initially, but the camels are very well behaved and in all honesty I would happily go back
