Full description
Your driver will meet you at your accommodation (or preferred pick-up point) at 9.00 am to start the transfer to Imlil. On your way you will pass through the town of Tahnaout where you can stop at an Argan Oil Co-operative and learn how the woman of the co-operative turn the Argan nut into many of the different Argan Oil-based products Morocco is famous for. You will then continue on through Asni where, on Saturdays, a traditional Berber Souk and market can be visited. Once you arrive in Imlil you will stop for a welcome glass of mint tea and meet your guide before commencing your tour of the local area. Your guide will help you decide on the length of your tour (you can choose between 1 and 3 hours) and then you will make your way to the largest and highest village in Imlil Valley. Your journey will take you past waterfalls and the hamlets of Ait Mizan, Targa and Imoula. You will stop off in Tamatert and have the opportunity to take in the views of ancient irrigated terraced fields of barley, corn, and vegetables, surrounded by cherry and walnut trees. Your guide will point out things of interest and talk to you about the Berber culture and heritage along the way. Travel down through the village of Ait Souka and afterwards enjoy a traditional Moroccan meal in a Berber family guest house. Once you are rested you will begin your return trip down the other side of the valley to Taourirt to meet your vehicle. Your return transfer will take you via Moulay Brahim Gorges, where you will arrive at a main trailhead with streams and paths branching out in all directions. Here you will have the opportunity to experience riding a camel. You will then continue your journey back to Marrakech, arriving back at approximately 6.00 pm.

I paid for this trip after going through the existing good reviews. And I was not disappointed. It was a lovely family day out. The Mercedes van was waiting at the time stated. The guide Said got in en route and took over. Great chap...helped a lot that he was indeed from the Imlil valley and a Berber himself. Gave us a well informed and educational tour of the Valley , an insight into Berber life and traditions, why mint tea is drunk the way it is, argan oil and it's production, marriage ceremonies in the mountains, Berber music and a whole lot more. A singularly pleasant and delightful journey indeed. And did I mention the glorious little trek up the mountain ( which even my 6 yr old enjoyed) to see the waterfall and the camel ride on the way back to Marrakech? It was simply great beyond all my expectations.

Very nice and busy day (camel, Berber market, hike, lunch ..) Just a note: the duration of the hike is to be chosen by the group. For us, the duration was around 1h30 / 2h; I could not have imagined walking less. Also, I think it would be good if on the Get Your Guide site, that we can indicate the desired hike duration so that groups are created; indeed, it can be difficult for the guide to meet everyone's requirements; we don't necessarily have the same expectations. But for us, everything was ok! Thanks to our guide.

This trip was amazing! We were picked up on the right time and place and left immediately. The views were stunning, our guide Siad was very nice and helpful and the villages that we visited were very interesting. The lunch was very good and the balance between hiking and resting was perfect. The camel ride at the end made for a great conclusion. We can definitely recommend going on this trip, it is absolutely worth the money.
