Leaving Pile square on foot, your guide will lead you through west side entrance to the Old Town. You will explore the town of Dubrovnik before going to the walls, which were completed in the 13th century. The ancient ramparts are still intact today and encircle the old city for more than a mile and a half. Ascending the stairway at Pile Gate, you will soon reach the top of the wall where your guide will lead you on a walking tour along its entire length. You will see the gorgeous Minčeta Fortress, St. John's Fortress, Bokar Fortress and the Maritime Museum.

We enjoyed the tour around the city with our guide, Ivanka, who was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The atmosphere she created was very relaxed and it was like taking a stroll with a friend. After two hours walking and talking we were left to climb the steps to the city walls ourselves which I didn’t expect. The ticket we were given was valid until New year so we could do this part whenever we wanted, which was a bonus as it was very hot by the time we’d finished the tour. Great that the guide gets your city walls ticket for you so you don’t need to queue.

We were a small group of 6 (including guide), hence the tour felt very personal and we moved easily along the walls. Our guide Desa was simply wonderful - highly recommend. Very insightful, good sense of humour, and clear communication throughout. Did not feel rushed or shunted along at any point, plenty of time to take pictures or linger a moment. Our tour came to its close at sunset in the perfect location atop the Minceta tower - really quite stunning skies. Note the tour does not include the ticket for the Walls - you need to buy this beforehand or at the beginning of the tour.
