Montalcino: Private Brunello Wine Tour with Tuscan Lunch

3. Montalcino: Private Brunello Wine Tour with Tuscan Lunch

Our wonderful day exploring the Brunello wine region begins when you are picked up at the hotel and taken on a scenic drive through the beautiful Tuscan countryside comfortably seated in a luxury vehicle. Brunello is produced exclusively within the Montalcino territory, and only from Sangioveto Grosso grapes, a Sangiovese clone perfectly suited to local conditions and before release, it must be aged for four years, at least two of which must be in wooden casks. The first stop will be to a cutting-edge Brunello winery where we will taste an amazing Brunello wine and sample the spicy, intense extra virgin olive oil produced by the estate. We will visit the winery’s grounds and most importantly, the historic cellars. Next stop is the charming town of Montalcino, where we can enjoy lunch in a typical Tuscan restaurant and then have time to explore the town’s narrow winding streets filled with artisan food and wine shops. The unspoiled character of the town of Montalcino and the surrounding countryside is impressive, and nowadays rather rare. No visit would be complete without a look at Montalcino’s famous fortezza, the four- teenth-century fortress to which Sienese forces withdrew when Siena was definitively conquered and annexed by Florence in 1555. The view from the ramparts is spectacular. On the ground floor there is a well-stocked wine shop where it is possible to sample Brunello by the glass. Later in the afternoon we will a visit another top rated Brunello winery. We can compare styles and techniques while learning more about this excellent wine. A short visit to Sant’Antimo Abbey may also be part of this wonderful excursion, before heading back to your Hotel.

Our driver, Patrick, was fun and very attentive to our needs meeting high expectations from the age range within our small group. He took care to ensure we were well taken care of, sharing beautiful sites, and great recommendations to sit down and relax enjoying the tastes found in Tuscany. My teenage daughter was so excited Patrick went above and beyond to help her find the film sites from one of her favorite movies, Twilight. It was a fun adventure, peaceful, and we had a very lovely time. I strongly recommend anyone wanting an escape from the busy cities to escape on this tour to enjoy incredible scenery at a slower pace in Tuscany with Patrick. Thank you for such a wonderful time which ended our trip on a high note!

Angel, our guide, picked us up promptly at 8:30 at our hotel. As we drove to Montalcino, he was able to give us many stories of the Chianti region along the way. As it was the off season, we were somewhat restricted on which of the wineries we could visit, but he picked three amazing, and very different ones. Lunch was included at the second winery, Fanti, which was incredible and it included a tasting of their olive oil as well. We loved everything about our tour and our guide Angel, who made it very special.

Patrick is, in a word, exquisite. We booked a tour starting at 8:30 am and he arrived promptly in a gorgeous Mercedes with croissants for the journey. Patrick deftly navigated the roads and all of our questions. He took us to an amazing local winery in Montepulciano and then made special accommodations to do a private tasting at a local vineyard. We also stopped at PIENZA, which is BY FAR the most gorgeous town we’ve seen in Tuscany. 10/10 day with Patrick would recommend to all!

Really enjoyed this tour to Montalcino, one of the best wine regions in the world. Our guide Belen was great driving us around to 3 very good estates with a different heritage. The Tuscan food was also great for lunch and paired with the wines. Great day all around

The trip was perfect. Peter the driver was kind, nice and it was a very pleasant experience. I will definitely be back
