Paris: Montmartre Private Walking Tour

1. Paris: Montmartre Private Walking Tour

Explore the legendary Montmartre district of Paris on a private 2-hour walking tour, and learn how the former suburb outside the city’s jurisdiction went from being a den of iniquity to the fashionable, bohemian center it is today. Along the way, your personal guide will tell you stories of illegal alcohol and “obscene” Can-Can dancers, show you lavish houses next to run-down slums, and describe the birth of Impressionism in the 19th century. Uncover its layered history along some of the beautiful - and not so beautiful - streets, stopping at landmark monuments, such as the Metro Blanche (formerly Maison Blanche), Moulin Rouge, and Moulin de la Galette. Climb the ancient Rue Lepic, and marvel at the white façade of the Sacre Coeur. See street artists in Place du Tertre, and discover the vineyards of the Vigne de Montmartre. Visit the Lapin Agile cabaret, and learn how it was a favored spot among struggling artists and writers, including Picasso and Modigliani.

We had been doing all the touristy things and Montmartre was definitely the cherry on top. It was very charming all the way up and the basilica was spectacular! Our guide, Clovis was very knowledgeable and friendly. If you are planning a vivir to Montmartre (and you should) ask for him to be your guide!

Must do walking tour! We had a wonderful time and our guides, Richard and Nick were amazing. They kept the group on-time and pointed out all the interesting sites along the tour. They recommended places to eat and neighborhoods to go to after the tour. I highly recommend this tour.
