Full description

Embark on a guided trek along Mount Etna's north side. Discover the craters at the summit, wander through the forests, stare in awe at the lava streams, and admire the eruptive fractures.

Begin the trekking route along the dirt road that leads from Piano Provenzana to the summit craters of the volcano. Make a stop to see the ruins of the Hotel dell Betulle, the only visible structure that stands from the lava flow that occurred in 2002.

Along the route, take the time to visit and study several volcanic morphologies, all related to a series of eruptions that have occurred overtimef on the north side of Etna.

In particular, the flank eruptions have left the most evidence, especially the last one, which threatened the city of Linguaglossa. See the structures called Hornitos, which means, small over, and go up along the cinder cones.

Once at the summit, look over the edge of the craters and go down inside a sandy channel to get back to the starting point.

I did this trek with 4 children aged between 15 and 7 years old. They all liked this trek including me. It was suitable for everyone. The place is magical and our guide is a real volcano enthusiast. We thank Francesco for his patience, his ability to listen and his enlightening explanations. I highly recommend.

Contact was made the evening before via WhatsApp, including the meeting point and the name of the guide. Domenico organized the tour very well and told a lot about the north side of Mount Etna. It was a rather simple tour, which was also taken on by a family, among others. After about two and a half hours we were back at the parking lot.

We booked the tour the day before. The entire booking process was quick and effective. Communication with the fantastic and efficient operator. There was a schedule change due to the weather. Always doing what is most convenient for the client. The excursion was fun, with explanations along the way. Nikos, the Guide, very good and kind. Very successful in the rhythm of the excursion and always attentive to customers. I give it a 10/10. I encourage everyone to take the tour. I went with my wife and 3 children ages 10, 9 and 7.
