A very nice outing, the weather was capricious, rain, hail, storm, happy calm for the lunch break and the descent to the gondolas. An outing with our 3 children who loved it, a big thank you to Mario our guide who has been surveying the sides of the volcano for a while. A hike we could do again if clear skies were guaranteed!

This activity was definitely a highlight of my trip to Sicily. The view was amazing and our guide was very knowledgeable. I am not in the very best shape but found this very doable. The pace isn't that high and I could borrow hiking shoes and poles which definitely made it a lot easier. I even got a warmer coat from them because they thought I'd be freezing in mine. I'm Dutch, so to me, it wasn't that incredibly cold out there. I was fine in a T-shirt, but do keep this in mind if you're not used to colder temperatures! (and of course it depends on the weather which can change very rapidly, so bring something just in case) We did not go all the way to the top due to activity but it was still worth it!

The tour was very exciting and gave you a breathtaking view of the volcano. Unfortunately, due to the activity of the volcano, we could not go very high either, but we were able to marvel at the newest lava flows and older craters. The temperatures up there are really fresh and the wind is blowing pretty hard. Therefore, ear protection and a good windbreaker are very useful. The level of demands should not be underestimated and should not be taken lightly. Also, no toilets are accessible for a long time, so definitely make it easier beforehand. Unfortunately, we sometimes didn't hear the explanation because we only caught up with the group later. In general, we would have received more explanations about the various phenomena and products of the volcano and its genesis. Our guide and staff were very friendly and accommodating!
