When it’s time, the cogwheel train transports you down to the mountain resort of Rigi Kaltbad. The Rigi Kaltbad Mineral Baths & Spa was designed by renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta. We depart from Lucerne train station and follow the free-car cycle trails. This beautiful and relaxed trail will take you along the lake passing by many public beaches and lake clubs. The view of the Swiss alps in the backdrop is simply breathtaking. We travel a distance of 16 kms/10 miles on battery-assisted pedalling e-bikes which enables everyone with a “normal level of physical fitness” to enjoy this experience. In summer hot days you will find idyllic places for a picnic and swimming. We start this panoramic tour right at the heart of Lucerne city. We ride through the new part of the city along the former railway tracks which now is a cycling and pedestrian highway. Continue your ride enjoying views of the Sport area and local gardens. Follow the trail along the lakeshore and admire wonderful views of the Pilatus, Rigi, Stanserhorn, Bürgenstock and the local vineyards. Along the lake we encounter numerous bathing places which are popular in the summer, the perfect place for a picnic or a break just to enjoy the alpine views. Around mid-day, you take the cog-wheel train down to Vitznau where you board the boat for a lovely one-hour cruise to Lucerne. Start the day off with a train ride from the Lucerne train station to Goldau, where you will transfer to the Mt. Rigi cogwheel train, and then to the aerial tram, to reach the starting point of your hike at the 1,661-meter high Rigi Scheidegg. The panoramic views and the symphony of cow bells in the summer months provide the perfect ambiance, and served as the inspiration from Mark Twain's 1880 book, “A Tramp Abroad." Midway through the hike, stop for lunch at a typical Alpine restaurant or bring your own to enjoy at a nearby meadow. After lunch, continue hiking through undulating meadows to reach the modern facilities of the newly opened Mineralbad & Spa at Rigi Kaltbad, designed by internationally renowned architect, Mario Botta. Take the cogwheel train up to the top of Mount Rigi to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views over the lakes and mountains, and then descend by foot back to the Rigi Kaltbad. End the tour with a scenic 40-minute boat cruise across Lake Lucerne, returning to the Lucerne train station by 6:47 PM.
