our local guide (Isra) was fantastic. we feel very lucky to have net Isra who's knowledge of ancient Egypt is at the Museum standard. which is not surprising how she has a lengthy Cairo Museum employment studying her fav subject. she showed us things at the Pyramids never mentioned in any TV documentary. it really was a 5 star service. We where even collected by car from the Hilton hotel, because when we got off the bus from Hurghada, we got a bit lost. Isra and her driver told us to stay at the Hilton and they came straight there and collected us. Cairo is a mad place to drive and tbh I couldn't do it, but we felt very safe with our very experienced driver who also looked after our valuables when we left the vehicle. He also knew a great place for lunch. Isra and the driver work brilliantly together and we can not thank them enough for looking after us all day, and it really was a full, packed day. 5 star guide, driver, excursions. Highly recommend. Thank You Isra and Driver.
Amazing museum. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Would have been 5-stars except the company handling the tour failed on our transportation. We had booked tour and transportation from our hotel. We e-mailed the company the day before to confirm pickup time. Responded that someone would be getting in touch with us but plan for 9:30 pickup. No one ever showed so we ended up walking to the museum and then took a good bit of time to find our guide.
We waited outside the gates of the museum but the rep with the tickets was waiting inside, this could have been made clearer to us on the information provided. We didn't have a guide just used 'Skip the Line' which as it happened there was no queue (due to the lack of tourists because of the Coronavirus) but when there is a queue it would be well worth doing.
One of my best decisions was to take this trip to explore the city within one day. In spite of a very tiring bus tour (which was the only low point) I met the most amazing guide ever who I could explore Cairo with, and enjoy the sunshine and the rainy hours (unfortunately this is my usual luck) at the same time. Thanks Maged for this amazing experience!
The Museum will be moved to the new and modern Grand Egyptian Museum around Giza. The old one was lacking of information. I hope the modern and the new one will be more satisfying to anyone who wants to learn about ancient Egypt.
