    1. Mycenae and Epidaurus: Full-Day Tour from Athens

During the late Bronze Age, the city of Mycenae played an important role in ancient Greece. This full-day trip from Athens provides the opportunity for you to explore this treasure of the ancient world. Traveling by air-conditioned bus, you’ll make a brief stop at the Corinth Canal, a 3.9-mile engineering wonder connecting the Gulf of Corinth with the Aegean Sea. Mycenae is the historical setting for much of ancient Greek literature, including the works of the poet Homer. Tour the archeological site, home to the Lionesses Gate and the tomb of King Agamemnon. Before lunch you have the option of visiting a pottery factory to see the techniques that were used by ancient Greeks to create their beautiful vases and earthenware. After a relaxing lunch you’ll continue on the drive, making a short stop in Nauplia, the first capital of modern Greece and home to the fortress of Palamidi. The f...

It was really nice. The guide knew a lot and could explain everything and answer every question. The bus was great too and we were picked up really near our hotel. However, at arriving on site of the first stop we found out that there are actually free admission tickets for EU citizens under 25 which neither GetYourGuide nor the official tour company ever mentioned. We paid the full price of 100€ which included two admissions fees of 12€ each. If we had known that admission was free for us, we would have never booked this expensive trip and found another way to get to these attractions. GetYourGuide should include a feature where customers can add their age and nationality and then adapt the price to that because I have now paid 48€ that would have not been necessary if I had known about the free admissions.

Let me start this way: the beginning wasn't promising: instead of arranging a pick up for us, as advertised, we were told to walk to the main office place- about 30 min away. I had to demand the pick before my group finally got it. Next, instead of being in a nice bus with wifi, as advertised, we got a tiny minibus, no wifi. However, once the trip started, mostly thanks to our guide, Stevee, it was a really great experience. She was very informative, funny, kept telling us stories, and kept us really interested while walking and visiting the sites. Lunch- very good! The restaurant was in perfect location. Overall, I would recommend the experience!

This tour exceeded my expectations. Its a long day for sure (due my early 725 pickup and 630 dropoff), but tour guide Dimitri made it interesting the entire journey. Dimitri went over and beyond and did a fabulous job. This young man has degrees in History and Archeology and he knows his stuff. He made the history come alive, and told the story and greek hiatory timeline in a way that anyone ( history buff or not), could understand. Congratulations for Dimitri, he gets 10 out of 10. Thank You.
