Experience

Highlights
  • Tour the ruins of Pompeii, and get an insight into life in the Roman Republic
  • Explore the volcanic vineyards and learn how the "violent" slopes of a volcano give the wine its DNA
  • Savor some of the finest Vesuvius wines, paired with a Mediterranean lunch
Full description
Visit the ruins of Pompeii and discover the shops, brothels, baths and villas of an everyday town of the Roman Republic, buried under lava and ash when Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. Get a unique insight into the lifestyle of the inhabitants of the ancient town. Then, take a guided tour of the vineyards on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius, and experience the passion of Sorrentino wines, with viticulture in their DNA. Boasting unique characteristics from the sunburnt ground, fertilized with periodical lava flows, the wines have legendary origins. The story of wines like “Lacryma Christi” were written by the hand of nature at her most violent. It’s a story that has gone on for decades, thanks to a tenacious family that knew how to support a territory rich in precious fruit. After exploring the vineyards on the “violent” slopes, relax over a delicious Mediterranean lunch, served with wines of the region, such as “Falanghina,” “Lacryma Christi,” “Aglianico” and many other renowned varieties.

Great but could be improved

Pompeii was amazing, but there was quite a lot of time wasted in the morning getting to Pompeii and starting the tour. Especially when there's lots to see in Pompeii you are left frustrated as you don't have time to fit it all in and the faffing around leaves you frustrated. The wine tastings was exceptional great food and great wine on offer!!!!!!!!!!

A tour of two halves

Was really looking forward to this tour and paid good money. The tour started off with a lot of time wasted changing buses and the tour guides re-organising themselves before we finally got on the road. Then we were told on the bus we had to pay for entry to Pompeii in addition. This was unexpected as it clearly started on the Get Your Guide website that entry fee was included! This is misleading and detracts from the tour experience. The tour guide around Pompeii was good, but the lunch and winery tour fell short of my expectations. Food was very average and although the wines were pleasant we didn't get any owners/operators/winemakers telling us about their winery and vineyard operations. All we had was a quick 10 min walk around with one our lunchtime waiters. Overall i don't recommend the whole day tour - just the Pompeii part.
