A fact attributed to daily physical activity, the Mediterranean Diet, renowned for its simplicity and natural ingredients, including plenty of olive oil paired with fresh, non-processed food, as well as the characteristic slower paced, low stress country lifestyle.
We begin our countryside experience with a short drive to a tiny, off-the-beaten-path, village where time stands still. On the way, you’ll learn about the flavorful food and tastes of Naxos. Once we arrive, you’ll step into a traditional coffee shop to delight in honey-tasting and local herbal teas. A walk through the sights and sounds of the village leads to the orchards where we’ll hike through unspoiled Nature. We’ll pass local farms before reaching our glorious final destination; a young farmer’s olive grove in a mythical setting with natural springs and cascades. Our host welcomes us to olive oil tasting and ‘farm to table’ local product sampling under an olive tree where the sound of the little waterfalls is like music to our ears. You’ll savor a variety of Greek olive oils and learn about our ‘liquid gold’, with its nutritional benefits, as well as the historic presence of olive trees on the island, and the current harvesting techniques.
Gathered ‘Around the Farmer’s Table’ we enjoy the pairing of different types of olive oil with the homemade specialties of the farmer’s organic brunch creating a memorable gastronomy experience, sprinkled with Naxian magic!
