Full description

Visit two plantations and explore their unique landscape and architecture. View informative exhibitions, learn about their history as you tour the historic sites, and benefit from pickup from your accommodation in New Orleans.

Start with a visit to the famous Oak Alley Plantation. Witness the quarter-mile avenue of 28 giant live oak trees leading to the house.

Pause at the Slavery at Oak Alley exhibition and explore the stories of those who were enslaved at the site. Learn about the daily lives of slaves including their healthcare, punishment, and life after emancipation. Choose between visiting the Laura or Whitney Plantation for the second part of your tour. Select Laura to see a plantation complete with a big house kitchen garden, Jardin, and banana groves. Browse for local arts and crafts in the shop, and visit the plantation's new museum as part of your tour.

Alternatively, decide to visit the Whitney Plantation, home to the first slavery museum. View exhibits demonstrating the lives of the slaves who worked on plantations. See the oldest detached kitchen and the best-preserved Creole cottage in Louisiana as part of your visit.
