Full description
Visit Plantation Country to view one of Louisiana's cultural and historic plantations. History, architecture, and stories can be found at each of the plantations that you will visit along the legendary River Road. Take a tour round Laura or Oak Alley Plantations and view a place of historical significance. The Oak Alley Plantation was built in 1837-39. It is famous for its alley of 28 evenly spaced live oak trees, believed to be at least 100 years older than the house itself. Each home is truly a part of historical Louisiana. The Laura Plantation was built in 1805. The “Memoirs of Laura” exhibit will tell guests about the lives of the enslaved men, women, and children.

The tour was very efficient from start to finish. it was a great experience however I just wish we had been given an extra hour to get around all the exhibits. We only had an hour and a half to get around everything and with a queue for the main house tour we ended up missing other exhibits.

This tour exceeded my expectations. I wish we had more time to explore the plantation. What I didn’t expect was the passion and knowledge of our tour guide. I learned so much about the plantation and the founders. I thought this was a once in a lifetime trip, however I now want to return. This really was as advertised, meaning no hidden or surprise costs. I appreciate that. Sarihana Guaynabo, PR.”

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the travel time felt long in comparison to the length of the plantation tour itself. I think half a day would probably be enough to do both Laura and Oak Alley plantations if we didn't waste time shuttling people to the swamp tour.
