Full description

Experience 2 typical Louisiana features—plantation homes and bayous—on a guided day trip from New Orleans with hotel pickup. Tour Oak Alley Plantation, with entry tickets, included, and look out for wildlife on a boat trip through the swamplands.

Start with a pickup from your French Quarter hotel. Head out of New Orleans and travel to Oak Alley Plantation, one of the best-known in the area. Built in 1837-39, the plantation is famous for its alley of 28 evenly spaced live oak trees.

Take a guided tour of the historical plantation and gain an educational insight into the times of slavery.

Afterward, enjoy a fully narrated boat tour of the swamps. Keep a lookout for alligators, turtles, water birds, and other local wildlife. Listen as your captain tells stories of local Cajun and Creole history, and the people who live in the Bayou area.

Finish your tour with the return journey to New Orleans, where you’ll be dropped off at your French Quarter hotel.

Awesome! The trip started with the swamp tour and then Oak Alley. The swamp tour on the flat bottom boat was really educational about the wildlife and history too. Oak Alley is a beautiful place and visiting it as a combo with a swamp tour is definitely enough time as the visit inside the big house only lasts 30 minutes. Then the rest of the visit is outside in the gardens by yourself. The place is famous for its oak alley used in movies, this is the must see of the place. The slave quarter outside is interesting but compared to Whitney museum, it is really small. The visit inside the house is really interesting as the guide tells us the history of the house & the family who lived there. My regret: it is very quick inside the house, you can't take pictures. You have to follow the rhythm and I like to take my time. Our driver - guide Kindrell was really knowledgeable and told much information about NOLA, plantation life, slavery time, that was really enriching to listen to him.

Great trip. Driver was great stopped off on the way and showed us to artworks / sites to take photos. Dropped us to the swamp short wait before boarding tour which was fantastic lots of marshmallow eating alligators and other critters. Brilliant guide. Then straight off to plantation which was great. Had 45 minutes to walk round before guided tour of house then transport back. On arrival back to new orlens given some restaurant / eatry advice. Worth doing full day out. I was able to contact company to change my pick up to somewhere closer to where our ship docked which ws fantastic short notice change.

The trip was great! I’m really satisfied by the whole experience. The only drawback, which might be personal, was that the guide in the swamp section of the tour talked nonstop. He presented interesting facts but we couldn’t enjoy the wilderness of nature. The plantation tour was interesting as well. I would prefer to spend some more time in the garden and the alley of the oaks. But I do recommend this trip. It’s a must do!
