New Orleans: 2-Hour Haunted Cemetery and City Tour at Night
- Duration: 2 hours
See for yourself if New Orleans is the most-haunted city in America, as some people say. The popular southern city has a vast history and culture consisting of a terrifying dark mythology and scary supernatural legends.
Join a New Orleans ghost tour to learn more about why the city is home to multiple unsolved mysteries. Hear stories of real documented reports of vampires and ghosts lurking the streets. Explore the dark side of New Orleans on a haunted tour.
You can expect to wander through horrifying streets while seeing some of the city’s most important landmarks on the way. Two in one! Landmarks may include the famous St Louis Cathedral and Mississippi River.
You'll visit several supposedly haunted spots in the city. Which locations can you expect to visit? Expect to see LaLaurie Mansion, the inspiration for the film American Horror Story, and City of the Dead, the oldest cemetery in New Orleans.
Don’t worry, you aren’t expected to ghost hunt for yourself as an expert local will fill you in. Speak up if you have a question or see something spooky along the way!
For those of you who want to try something a little different, New Orleans offers some haunted pub crawls and haunted history tours. You’ll make your way through the creepiest locations, like America’s oldest building, while stopping for a drink (or three). Sorry to say, drinks aren’t included but they are available and there may be special discounts (who doesn’t love a freebie?).
Some tours offer an extra special something by providing you with a ghost and paranormal detector as you roam the streets ghost hunting. You’ll get your very own device to use on the tour. See for yourselves why New Orleans is the most-haunted city in America!
Most tours that you’ll find are 2 hours long, but you can find some longer ones. In general, they range from 1 hour to as many as 8 (that’s a full day of ghost hunting!)
For tours that stop by bars or pubs, please remember to bring your passport or ID card. In America, don't forget you need to be 21 or over to buy alcohol.
Weather conditions may vary, so you may want to bring a sweater. Not to mention that this can also serve as a cover to hide from the ghouls…
The Louisiana city has a rich history that covers not just ghosts and ghouls, but also voodoos, vampires, witches, and even pirates. The city is also home to the final resting place of many of New Orleans’s most notable personalities. You may have heard about Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau, whose tomb is one of the most popular burial sites in the country.
Did you know that New Orleans has a traditional burial practice where the same vaults are recycled and reused?
Visit the location where a young woman broke free after two men had been holding her captive and feeding off her blood! Tours in the French Quarter may cover this spooky spot.
You may also get to see St. Germain House, a former residence of a rumored vampire.
You can be certain that many tours will cover the French Quarter, the oldest area in the city of New Orleans. You’ll hear about the neighborhood’s unsolved and tragic killings, in addition to sightings of ghosts and vampires.
Dare to be scared at the City of the Dead (also known as St. Louis Cemetery). Many tours also include the city’s oldest and most interesting burial ground (cemetery). They even bury the dead above ground. Will you make it out alive?

We had a great time! Our guide was Candy and I forget our driver’s name, but they said they always work together. They were wonderful. Candy did a great job of combining the spooky stories with the history of the town and telling jokes that didn’t take away from the experience but instead made it even more fun. She was an excellent guide and I highly recommend her tours to anyone going to New Orleans. The only disappointment was the cemetery was closed when we got there, so we were unable to actually DO a cemetery tour. I fully understand this is not Candy’s fault though and she did the best with what she had available and took us to walk around the outside of a different cemetery. I recommend this tour and I might do it again on my next visit to get a chance to go in the cemetery.
Sandra D was awesome! She was a wonderful story teller and has a way of really drawing you in so you’re hanging on her every word! Very thoughtful and kind. It was a scorcher the day of our trip and she kept us in the shade as much as possible and allowed plenty of time for breaks. Very knowledgeable, couldn’t have asked for a better time. 10/10 would definitely recommend!!
I was in a Small Group of Three people all together Geoff was a Gem I learned more in 10 mins than I would have if I walked all day in those cemeteries..Knowledgeable great sense of humor and decent person
Our guide was very knowledgeable. I appreciated her down to earth attitude and honesty. She didn’t overhype things and knew the city well. Well worth the money!
Our guide Coty was amazing, and knew a lot of the historical facts about the locations we visited. He made the tour more exciting will his knowledge.
