Highlights
  • Eat around the world in one neighborhood
  • Hear about the immigrant history that made Hell's Kitchen the true NYC melting pot
  • Learn how Hell's Kitchen got its name
Full description
Formerly the mainstay of poor, working-class Irish Americans, the story of how Hell's Kitchen got its nickname is as exciting as the neighborhood itself. It is known for its long history of ethnic tensions. Listen to stories about its complex past, from which the famed musical "West Side Story" was born. Learn how, despite having a history of crime and gang violence, Hell’s Kitchen has become a gentrified, metropolitan area that now boasts some of the most expensive properties in Manhattan. This exciting food tour takes you to the best restaurants in midtown – some say the best food in New York. Tease your taste buds with all sorts of different cuisines, including Caribbean, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Mexican, Thai, Italian, Ethiopian, Turkish, and Indian, among others. From empanadas to custom-made donuts to exotic curry puffs, this delicious tour takes you through five different locations in the colorful neighborhood, giving you a real taste of New York dining.

We really enjoyed this tour. We had a New York guide, so in addition to the food, we learned a lot about the area and the background to the different stops. The food was a great mix. We actually went to a restaurant the next day because it was so delicious. We can really recommend the tour.

    Excellent experience

We've done a lot of food tours and this one was a great combination of local history and different foods to taste and try. Hell's kitchen is a real melting pot of cuisine and styles and the tour gave us a real sense of the area and the different foods on offer.

    Great food and facts!

We took the Hell's Kitchen walking tour with Alex. There were only 6 people on the tour and they generally like to keep it under 10. We had about 5 different stops and tried food from different ethnic kitchens. Alex was full of hard and fun facts about NYC. I would recommend the tour. Come hungry!
