Full description

Meet your guide at Battery Park and enjoy Fast Track priority boarding for the ferry to the Statue of Liberty on this 5-hour program. Designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, the iconic copper Statue was built by Gustave Eiffel. Dedicated on 28 October 1886, it was a gift to the United States from the people of France. Visit the all-new Pedestal Museum, to learn more about this famous monument. Continue to Ellis Island, home to a federal immigration station that opened in 1892 and continued operations for more than 60 years before closing in 1954. Millions of immigrants passed through the station during that period. It is thought that at least 40% of all current United States citizens can trace one or more of their ancestors to Ellis Island. After returning to Battery Park, you’ll visit the National September 11 Memorial, the principal monument commemorating the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 that killed 2,507 civilians, 72 law enforcement officers, 343 firefighters, and 55 military personnel. The memorial is located at the former site of the Twin Towers, which collapsed on the day of the attacks.

The tour itself was ok and the guide did everything well. BUT: The tour operator in NYC screwed up the whole thing extremely. We had booked the morning tour and then the tour to the viewing platform of the One World Center. However, the tour operator canceled the morning tour and rebooked us to the afternoon. We didn't get a call, SMS or email about this !!!!! At the meeting point in the morning, another guide was present who informed us about this change. He also phoned the office based on our complaint and confirmed that the office’s statement was false. Presumably they didn't have enough guests for the morning tour and just pushed us on to the afternoon. We then did the One World Center in the morning, had just 1 hour for it and were allowed to walk 2 x 25 minutes there and back. Due to the afternoon tour, there was hardly any time on Ellis Island and the 9/11 Memorial.

I cannot say enough positive things about Leanne! She far-exceeded my expectations from a tour guide: incredibly knowledgeable, informative, organized, entertaining and experienced. It’s obvious she’s passionate about the subject matter, which made for a thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying experience. As for the tour itself, it’s a fantastic opportunity to gain an overview of the sites. Not a totally immersive experience and not quite long enough to take in all that there is to offer, but now I know I want to return on my own when I have more time to dedicate to these national treasures.

Did her best to get us to the front of queues and ended up doing a 7 hr tour due to the fact it was SO busy due to memorial weekend. So glad to have had Bonnie - best guide I have ever had. Very interesting tour and 9/11 memorial site very powerful indeed Only negative was we had to buy a further 20 usd to gonup Pedestal which I had thought was included.
