Alice Springs: Early Morning Hot Air Balloon Flight

2. Alice Springs: Early Morning Hot Air Balloon Flight

Your ballooning adventure begins in the cool pre-dawn darkness as you are picked up from your accommodation in Alice Springs. During the drive to the desert launch site you will get to know the crew as they make final weather checks and explain the routine for the morning. At the launch site gas burners are used to inflate the balloons just as the sun lights up the rugged MacDonnell Ranges. Once floating gently in the air you will appreciate the vast remoteness of the Australian outback. Wildlife, particularly big red kangaroos are seen nearly every day as the balloon floats above spinifex grasses, mulga scrub and cattle stations. After landing, enjoy a program designed to allow you a unique opportunity to experience the Australia bush. Most landings are in the desert, kilometers away from the nearest road. There is no traffic, no other people and no noise. The perfect place to enjoy a glass of sparkling Australian wine or if you prefer some tropical apple and guava juice. Perhaps mix the two for a delightful morning cocktail. Drinks are accompanied by a variety of muffins, biscuits, slices of cheese and fresh fruit. It's the perfect mix to enjoy before reboarding your bus to return to “town”.

What people are saying about Northern Territory

The guys that picked me up from the campground were on time, kind and polite. The transport van's were comfortable and safe. The helicopter flight was absolutely amazing. I am so glad i got to see Uluru and Kata Tjuta from an aerial view. It really does give a lot of context when you do the walks around both sites. The pilot was very knowledgeable of the area and of both culture sites. It was a very safe and enjoyable flight. We landed at the airport and got driven back to our pick up accommodations. There isn't room in the helicopter for bags, just need to take phone, wallet and camera on your helicopter flight.

Picked up at our hotel and arrived where we did not have to wait long before we were in the air and seeing Uluru and kata tjuta from a different view point. pilot was very knowledgeable

A great day in the air , on the ground and on the water including food and drinks exploring Kakadu Friendly staff at Kakadu Air , helpful and entertaining guide who was also our pilot.

Without doubt the highlight of our 7 day outback adventure. Perfect way to finish off our trip. To see Uluru and Kata Tjuta from the air was amazing.

It was sensational! The highlight of my visit to Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
