From Hanoi: Lan Ha and Ha Long Bay Day Cruise

2. From Hanoi: Lan Ha and Ha Long Bay Day Cruise

Journey to the famed Ha Long Bay and the lesser-known but equally beautiful adjoining Lan Ha Bay. Depart early from Hanoi with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Hanoi. Enjoy the scenic ride to Got Harbor in Hai Phong City through the Red River Delta, an area known for its traditional rural culture. At Got Harbor, relax in the waiting lounge and enjoy a welcome drink as the crew presents the itinerary for your 7-8 hour cruise. Once on board, dig in to a delicious multi-choice lunch in the elegant dining room as the ship sets sail. Admire some of the bay’s most famous islets as you cruise, including Da Chong and the 100-year-old French lighthouse left behind after the colonial era. Stop at the Dark and Bright Caves, two beautiful wet cave systems rich in marine life and lush vegetation. Their entry obscured by hanging orchids and fig trees, the caves are less touristy than other spots in the bay. Either kayak in on your own or have a local row you on a sampan boat through the long, silent tunnel of the Dark Cave to the light open space of the Bright Cave. Emerge at a hidden lake enclosed on all sides by streaked cliffs and tree-topped peaks. Passengers with keen eyes may be able to spot Cat Ba langurs, an endangered species of monkey that has sought sanctuary in the forested mountainsides of the Bright Cave. Back on board, relax on one of two sundecks and take in the phenomenal sights of unbounded nature on all sides, perhaps with a drink from the bar. Later in the afternoon, attend a cooking class and fruit-carving demonstration put on by several talented chefs, followed by a Western-style afternoon tea with accompanying snacks. On the way back to the harbor, go for a swim in the clean waters of Lan Ha Bay, enjoying the quiet surroundings. Arrive at Got Harbor just in time to catch a beautiful sunset over Lan Ha Bay. Fabulous day tour on the bay

Booked the day tour as a couple to explore the beautiful bay just out of Hanoi where they filmed Kong the movie. Admittedly it is an early start but after a 2 hour bus trip we boarded a luxury boat with a top and bottom deck and a great tour guide who entertained us all day and was so supportive and helpful. He is also a great cook and story teller that honestly he made the tour. Once arrived we checked out this incredible cave. Staff made a delicious lunch k us all taking account of dietary preferences. Thereafter we boarded again on the boat for a sail along a jetty where we did some kayaking before boarding and moving on for snap shots and swimming. The water was just divine with temperature and colour. Then a brief cooking class for spring rolls. The tour guide Quan made considerations for us vegetarians. This was followed by a couple of drinks and then the trip back to the port before boarding the luxury bus bound for Hanoi.

Super experience with very friendly, helpful and informative guide and a stable, very responsible driver. Real feeling of a Road trip with breathtaking views. Seen a lot, done, stayed at a simple but with all the basics provided homestay with simple but delicious food and richly flowing rice wine and the second day in a great hotel. The guide introduced us to certain Vietnamese customs, took all the time to teach me some Vietnamese words, answered all our questions, told himself a lot extra. The driver was friendly and attentive, and we felt safe in this car from the outset. Really recommended!

A great time in a wonderful landscape

I had a really nice time in this day trip with Vu as a tour guide. He’s smart, with a lot of sense of humor and good knowledge that shared with us during the day. I will recommend this tour and Vu as a guide. The driver was also excellent and the boat crew very nice.

Awesome. Not too many people. Get freedom to swim and kayak. Crew very friendly and well organised. Food was fresh, well prepared and enough. On board drinks not too expensive. Would highly recommend.

We had a great time with friendly participants from a wide range of countries, a set lunch with a beautiful view of Ha Long Bae and a great variety of activities including afternoon tea parties.
