Drive from Salzburg crossing the German border while enjoying great views. Pass Salzburg, cross the German border and continue into the Alps. Stop in Obersalzberg and switch to a reserved bus that will take you on a spectacular 6.5-kilometer drive along a spectacular single-lane road. The road was blasted out of solid rock with a 22% gradient that leads up to the Eagle's Nest (1,820 meters). To reach Hitler’s former residence, enter a 124-meter-long tunnel into the mountain. Climb aboard a golden brass elevator to ascend another 124 meters into the building itself. Your private guide will take you on a tour of the building, and show you sights such as the room with the famous fireplace. Get lots of inside information and anecdotes about Hitler’s legendary tea house. Soak up the panoramic views of the Bavarian and Austrian Alps. Before your return to Salzburg, take the opportunity to explore the picturesque town of Berchtesgaden.

This tour combines the original locations from the musical "The Sound of Music" with the historical "Eagle's Nest". Your tour starts with a tour of the city including the Palaces Leopoldskron (von Trapp Family House) and Hellbrunn (Sound of Music Pavilion). Hellbrunn Palace is on the way to the Eagle's Nest which will be next. Passing the border to Germany the journey continues to the Sound of Music Meadow (The Hills are alive). Now is your chance to spin in the field, reenacting the opening scene. Head to the "Obersalzberg" which is located at 3000 ft. elevation right below the Eagle's Nest. Access the Eagle's Nest with special busses and an elevator. Admire the scenic view of the Bavarian Mountains, the King's Lake, and the surrounding area of Salzburg. Returning from the Eagle's Nest, continue to the second highlight of our tour, the Salzburg Lake District. Travel through the Wies Valley and further on to Fuschl and St. Gilgen. Take a stunning photo of the castle of Fuschl with emerald Lake Fuschl in the background. The next highlight is Lake Wolfgang and the village St. Gilgen, the scenery of the area was shown at the beginning of "The Sound of Music." Enjoy a view from the "Mozart View Point" to Lake Wolfgang and the "Schafberg" Mountain. Relax and enjoy the countryside on the drive from St. Gilgen to the lake "Mondsee" and further on to the town of Mondsee with the "Sound of Music Wedding Church", from where you make your way back to Salzburg. Your tour ends with a drop-off at your Salzburg hotel or any other location within the city.

During this tour you will go on a drive from the city of Salzburg to the city of Hallein, the Dürnberg mountain (possibility to go into the salt mines (extra cost). Then you will see the Obersalzberg where Hitler used to have his summer residence (possibility to visit the eagle's nest (extra cost) during May and October and or the dokumentation center of the Obersalzberg and the bunker system). Then you will see the city of Berchtesgaden, where you have the possibility to go for a lunch. Finally you will see the King's lake, or the hintersee and the Ramsau area of Berchtesgaden.

Start your morning with a beautiful drive off the beaten path, passing the meadow where the opening scene of "The Sound of Music" was filmed. The road will then lead up to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Berchtesgaden. After a short picture stop you will go on to the “Obersalzberg” the Eagle’s Nest bus terminal. You will then board a specially equipped mountain bus for a breathtaking ride up the 4-mile road, with a 27% incline to a rocky plateau, from where you will walk into a 406 foot (124 meter) long tunnel leading you directly to the original WWII brass elevator that will transport you up through the heart of the Kehlstein mountain for another 406ft straight into the Eagle’s Nest itself. After a tour through the Eagle’s Nest you will have some free time to enjoy the views or refreshments. Descending from the Obersalzberg on the way to the town of Berchtesgaden you will also see the underground bunker complexes below the mountain. The extensive fortress-like system was built as an air rad shelter, as war headquarters and as a possible last refuge for the leaders of the Reich. Coming back to daylight after a short walk you will visit the grounds where Adolf Hitler had his Residence the Berghof. After your visit of the bunker complex and grounds of the Berghof you will continue on to the beautiful Bavarian mountain town of Berchtesgaden located in the Kings Lake River valley. You will have time to explore Berchtesgaden on your own as well as to have lunch in one of the typical Bavarian Restaurants (own expense). In the afternoon you can choose between exploring the underground world of a 450 year old salt mine or taking a boat ride to St Bartholomew’s on the Königsee, a glacial lake situated in a valley surrounded by the Bavarian Alps. Your return drive back to Salzburg will take you along Kings Lake River back to your Hotel or any other destination in Salzburg. We were very lucky weather sunny and bright saw beautiful scenery and good stops for photos - our guide was our driver as well and he was extremely informative about many different subjects when he was asked about historical/political facts during Second World War etc he was so interesting well worth the money I would recommend Panorama tours we did 3 trips with them efficient punctual and good drivers/guides

Amazing piece of history in an even More amazing setting. While it was a long day had plenty of time at each location. The views from the Eagles Nest were so incredible and the bus ride and guide very good. I can highly recommend.

The natural beauty of the Alps is breathtaking. I was fortunate and had good weather. The last little bit up to the Eagles Nest- Kehlstein, is a couple of $$ more, but worth it. It was a very nice day out.
