Explore one of the most important economic, social, and cultural centers in Western Romania on a 3-hour walking tour. Your local guide will pick you up at your hotel in central Oradea and you will continue on foot to the city fortress. Recently renovated with European funds, this fortress was first time mentioned in 1113 and over the centuries was conquered by Tatars, Turks, and Habsburg Empire. Next, visit the central part of the town. Admire the Secession-style buildings, an architectural trend common in many cities that belonged to the Austro-Hungarian empire. The knowledgable guide will tell you more about this interesting style while pointing out examples of Baroque, Neo-Classic, Eclectic, Neo-Gothic, and Neo-Romanesque architecture in the city.  Take in the views from atop the Town Hall before returning to the accommodation with your guide on foot.

The city centre is a landmark for the Jugendstil architecture, with several palaces, hotels and institutions, designed by brilliant artists, that have been brought to light in the past couple of years. We will get a chance to discover the Orthodox and Catholic cathedral, the Zion Synagogue and the famous, “Black Eagle” hotel. We invite you to just sit back, enjoy a glass of Transylvanian wine and discover Oradea’s flair. At noon, we will drive to “Baile Felix”, a place famous for its healing thermal waters and enjoy an afternoon at a local spa. Different kinds of massages and treatments, warm pools and an aqua world with several waterslides await us. In the evening we will return to Cluj.
