Spend your day cruising along the Guamá and Acará rivers to tour the waterfront of Belém. Explore the natural channels between two rivers or lagoons, called furos, which are typical to northern Brazil. Visit a local riverside community to experience, and learn what life by the river is like. Take in the daily activities of different boats on the river and enjoy the beauty of the diverse Amazonian habitats as you travel down the waterways. Sail around Combú Island, passing through Furo do Benedito and Furo do Paciência. Visit a waterfront village, and learn about how locals interact with the environment, make use of natural resources in their daily lives, and activities such as fishing, hunting, and agriculture.  Choose to add your experience with a trip at dawn to Papagaios Island, a habitat for thousands of parrots. Visit Marajó Island in the north of Brazil and enjoy majestic rivers, beautiful beaches, exotic food, and fascinating local culture. Choose between a day trip to Souré and Salvaterra and start the day with a boat ride across the awe-inspiring Pará River. Souré Trip: Arrive by boat at Camará Port and head straight to Araruna Farm. There you’ll learn about buffalo farming and the importance of these huge animals to the local population. In fact, you may even see the police officers of the area riding a buffalo on patrol. After a snack break, visit a ceramics and buffalo leathercraft center before continuing on to Pesqueiro Beach. Relax by the beach, enjoy the waves as the Pará River meets the Atlantic Ocean and take time for a bit of lunch (not included).  Salvaterra Trip: Arrive by boat at Salvaterra and continue to the Rural Tourism Unit Açaí Nativo (UTRAN) to learn about buffalo raising and breeding. Stop at Toca do Açaí and learn all about açaí, the delicious purple Amazon fruit. From there, continue to the shores of Salvaterra and unwind on beautiful Grande Beach. Cool off with a swim, relax by the sand, then sit back as you’re taken back to Belém.

Embark on a full-day boat journey across the Arapiuns River and let your guide introduce you to the rich culture of the Urucureá people and the incredible nature that surrounds this Amazonian destination. Meet your group and leave Alter do Chão heading north, passing by the Piranhas Lake. Do a photo stop at Ponta do Cururu, and then start the crossing trough Tapajós River, passing through the Vila Franca community and entering the Arapiuns River. On the Arapiuns River visit the Urucureá riverside village, a wonderful cove, which is subdivided into three arms of water, providing a unique view. See the picturesque church, and pay a visit to a local house where you will witness the talent of the native ladies in handcrafted pieces made with mastery. See the preparation and making of handicrafts — a true cultural show — and receive valuable knowledge about the arts and history of the Arapiuns River. During lunchtime, taste the Amazon with a meal prepared by a local, with fresh fish, free-range chicken, and sometimes meat. After lunch, relax laying on a hammock, enjoying the breeze. Continue the tour along the rocky banks of the Arapiuns River to your next stop, the fascinating Ponta do Toronó and Grande Lake. Walk over sand dunes that stretch for meters and divide the Arapiuns River into a large lake, with dozens of birds flying over and porpoises showing their fins.  Enjoy a picnic with fresh fruits such as watermelon, pineapple, banana, passion fruit, orange, apple, and coconut. This is a very good place for photos and to swim in crystal clear waters.  At the end of the tour, head to Ponta do Icuxi to see the sunset. After gazing at the sunset, return to Alter do Chão, cruising under a clear and starry sky.
