It’s a long trip but well worth it! The guides were extremely helpful and provided useful tips and also a nice recap of the history of France and the Normandy region. From the parking lot, they will give you the option of taking a shuttle or walking the last few hundred meters or so. Definitely do the walk once, better on the way back if you can plan your time, allowing a good 45 mins for the stroll. Definitely have some light snacks/lunch/drinks in one of the restaurants. We tried the calvados and the apple tart, both were amazing!

We were tourists from Japan. The tour guide Raymond was really kind and his explanation about French history and Mont saint Michel were highly helpful and clear. After we arrived, we explored the place freely by ourselves. It was the right decision to walk to the island feeling local atmosphere and enjoying the beautiful scenery. We strongly recommend you to walk to the island. It took us 40 min to get to the castle.

The meetup location was easy, the bus comfortable. I didn’t mind the king drive, the country side was beautiful so I counted it as part of the experience. Mont Saint Michel truly took my breath away. Once we got to the parking lot we were given the option to walk instead of take the free shuttle. Only three of us opted to walk and I was SO glad I did. It gave me lots of time to truly take in the Mont Michel and the surroundings. Plus I met a delightful French family that chatted with me about their life in France. I felt like I had enough time to see everything I wanted once at Mont Michel. The only reason I didn’t give this experience five stars was because I didn’t feel like our guide added much other than “you have X time” or “be back to the bus at X time”. She was friendly enough and us to ask her anything but I never saw her enough to utilize that offer. It would have been nice to have a guide to help us learn more history about the abbey. She only said a few words about that.
