Full description

The tour begins opposite a quintessential Parisian landmark: the Moulin Rouge windmill. You will start the climb up the hill, spotting the café where the film Amélie was shot and Van Gogh’s home was, as you go along.

The first stop will be at one of Paris’ best bakers, winner of many prestigious prizes for its bread and pastries. Here, you will taste one of France’s most famous patisserie foods: a deliciously buttery croissant.

After learning how to say “Je t’aime” in 250 different languages and listening to the crazy legend about the first Parisian bishop, you’ll climb a few more stairs to discover one of Montmartre’s loveliest squares and the one-time home of Pablo Picasso. Hear the stories of struggle endured by many local artists here before they found fame and fortune.  From here you’ll pass by the house of Dalida, one of France’s most famous singers and an iconic figure in Montmartre. Find out more about her dramatic life, and why she became an icon for the gay community in Paris and beyond. You’ll pass by one of the last remaining windmills in Paris, now totally privatized.

Continue down the “Champs-Élysées” of Montmartre, where you’ll see some of the most expensive houses in the capital. Your guide will then lead you through a totally secret passage that reveals not only one of the best views over Paris, but also one of the loveliest cobbled streets in the city. Next up are the famous vineyards of Montmartre. Almost on the top of the hill, they overlook the suburbs of Paris and produce a surprisingly good red wine. Opposite the vineyard is the entrance to the famous Cabaret, Le Lapin Agile, where your guide will tell you the legend of Lolo, the painting donkey.

Finally, walk to the iconic Basilica Sacré-Coeur, where you’ll stop to admire a view of the church from a perspective that very few tourists know about, leading onto your grand finale of another stunning Paris panorama. Before you go, don’t forget to pick your guide’s brains for the latest on what to see and do during your stay in Paris.

We did the tour with Ellie on 28th December. We started off with a cake (in lieu of the advertised croissant because the bakery was closed for the holidays) which in my opinion is a great way to start. We started next to the map at Blanche Metro station so that Ellie could explain where Montmartre is situated and how it came to be part of the city of Paris. Ellie is very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the area, its famous inhabitants and she also pointed out good places to eat and to explore further (we went back the following day to have lunch at La Mascotte on Rue des Abbesses which was a great recommendation). All in all we would definitely recommend this tour to those who want to learn more about Montmartre than you would get from your typical tourist guidebook. Thank you

Perfect in every way. Weather was phenomenal. All rhe sights were beautiful especially sacre Coeur and there was a wine and food festival. Tour passed quickly and was an easy pace. Note meet at the subway train stop if youre facing starbucks left kiddie corner. We waited at starbucks for 30 min anxious we had been left behind but called office to be told it was at the bus subway stop. Don't miss this tour. The wall of love and free croissant was very special for us

The morning spent in Montmartre has really been the highlight of our trip to Paris, in particular because of our tour guide Ellie. Ellie excels at her job: she is professional, friendly and good fun. We’ve visited Montmartre in the past and it can seem too full of tourists and over commercialized. Not so this time. Ellie’s enthusiasm and knowledge make all the varied sites interesting and hold your attention throughout. We can thoroughly recommend the tour, thanks Ellie!
