Then, continue to the island of Burano, known for its crochet work and brightly colored houses. Get picture-perfect views of the landmarks of Burano, such as the leaning bell tower and the main square of Piazza Baldassarre Galuppi, named after a major 18th-century Venetian composer. Look in some of the lace shops during your visit to the island. Then, conclude your travels on Piazza San Marco and see sights such as the Doge's Palace and Campanile as you stroll around the famous colonnades.

Venice: Off the Beaten Path Private Gondola Ride

2. Venice: Off the Beaten Path Private Gondola Ride

Climb aboard a gondola to experience Venice from the water on a private ride down some of the city's hidden canals. Journey back in time as you explore Venice on its most traditional mode of transport. It's estimated that in the 17th and 18th centuries, there were as many as 8 to 10,000 of the unique boats plying the waterways of the lagoon. Today, there are just 400 still in active service (mainly for tourism), but they maintain a strong bond with the history of the city. Depart close to the train station, and then travel down some of the hidden canals. Marvel at beautiful buildings, such as the Palazzo Gaffaro, Palazzo Zenobio, church of Santa Maria dei Carmini and many more. Sit back and relax as your gondolier punts you gently back to Piazzale Roma (next to the train station) at the end of the ride.

Have the option to add a gondola ride to round off your experience. Be greeted by your host and hop aboard an air-conditioned bus with plenty of room for luggage storage. Sit back and relax as you take in views of the Italian countryside on the ride to Venice. Upon arrival, meet your guide and leave your luggage securely locked away on the bus. Transfer from the bus parking area to Piazzale Roma to begin your walking tour. Stroll across the first bridge and make your way to the San Rocco school and church. Go around the corner to see the Frari Chapel, a popular wedding location. Next, stop at Campo San Polo, where Venetians used to organize bullfights for carnival. Head to the lively Rialto market where locals go for fresh fish and produce. Have the opportunity to buy a snack or drink, browse the local delicacies, and go souvenir shopping (at your own expense). Cross the Rialto Bridge and soak in the views of the canal. Learn about the lives of traders and merchants. See the central square of Venice, St Marks Piazza. Admire views of Doge’s Palace, which for over 1000 years, served as the government administrative center of the region. Afterward, transfer to the luggage storage, or if you select the optional gondola experience, begin your ride through the city's canals before collecting your luggage.

Very good experience! It is something that you should definitely do when you go to Venice. Our guide Camila was excellent, she asked everyone what language they spoke and that is why she gave each of the explanations in 4 languages (Spanish, English, French and Italian). He gave detailed and interesting explanations, he was quite kind to each one of us. We left the train station (right in front of KFC) however the boat went to St. Mark's Square, we changed boats to a bigger one and more people got on, I think that wastes a bit of tour time For example, in Murano I feel that we were very little, the explanation of the glass takes approximately 20 minutes and then you go to the store, with both things we spent almost all the time on the island so we did not see anything else. In Burano if we could visit more.

Excellent opportunity to get to know Murano and Burano. The time in each city was more than adequate, the guide is very friendly and I want to congratulate you for speaking 4 languages very well (she also spoke to us in Portuguese)!! The visit to the glass shop was also very worthwhile! Thank you so much for a beautiful morning.

enjoyed this tour. our guide, Georgia was very friendly and knowledgeable. we were given 1hr free time to explore each island (murano and burano). glass and lace making demos are included. overall, we enjoyed the tour even though we only had limited time to explore. highly recommend :)
