The best option to hike Pico Ruivo is to get transfer. You don't need guided tour, the tracks are obvious. But without convenient transfer you couldn't go there. Filip picked us up at our place and lifted us up to the Pico do Arieiro where the hike begins. From Pico Ruivo some people are going all the way back to PPico do Arieiro which is not only exhausting but also completely unnecessary unless you really love to hike. If you are going with Filip you won't need to do that. There is much easier and more enjoyable track down from Pico Ruivo to Achada do Teixera, where Filip picked us up. On the way back he also stopped in a beautiful town Santana and showed traditional houses with cereal roofs. I wouldn't waste a whole day for that because we had tight schedule for our trip so that was a good bonus - to visit a cool place that haven't been planned. Highly recommend!

This was AMAZING, definitely worth getting up early for the sunrise option. Another great service from Logan and Filipe, highly recommend them. Filipe gave us tips for the hike, as well as the best place to watch the sunrise, giving us amazing photos. Once hike was complete Filipe took us to Santana to see the old houses which was a great addition to the end of our day. Would redo this experience next time I'm back in madeira.

Totally recommended, pick up as agreed and on time - and the hike from Pico do Areeiro to Pico Ruivo was awesome as it is. Also - it was great that our guide recommended an early start to beat the clouds to see the best views and we managed to squeeze in a detour afterwards to Santana's historic houses. Only gripe - missed the famous Pico Ruivo tabby cat, but I guess that's how cats are.

Quite demanding hike but we enjoyed it a lot. First trial was cancelled due to bad weather, and am glad it was. A nice alternative was offered with amazingly good weather. For both hikes, the guides were professional, lively and good.

Convenient way to get to an amazing hike. The driver was very friendly and made the drive fun. Would recommend.
