Turin 3-Hour Classic Walking Tour

1. Turin 3-Hour Classic Walking Tour

Enjoy a 3-hour walking tour of Turin’s classic sights, from the baroque palaces and porticoes of the old city center to its medieval Cathedral, home to the fabled Turin Shroud. The tour starts at Piazza Castello, and sets off to visit Palazzo Madama, the favorite residence of the Ladies of the Royal Court. The Next stop is the Palazzo Reale (Royal Court) where the Savoy kings held court. Spy the spire of the Cathedral, before getting up-close to its stern medieval façade. Debate still rages as to whether the piece of linen inside is the cloth that wrapped the body of Christ or not. Walk through Piazza San Carlo, one of the city’s most elegant squares that was once dubbed “Europe’s sitting room.” Admire the fine baroque architecture of Piazza Carignano, including the palazzo where King Vittorio Emanuele II was born. Next, explore the Quadrilatero Romano, where the Roman grid-like system of the city’s original plan is most evident. During the tour, you will stop for an Italian espresso, accompanied by some "giandujotti," Turin's famous walnut chocolates.

Turin: Art Nouveau Walking Tour with Coffee

2. Turin: Art Nouveau Walking Tour with Coffee

Meet your guide in front of the Metro stop of Principi d'Acaja and start discovering the Art Nouveau of Turin. Discover The House of Dragons, which is one of the most valuable examples in the city of the skilful mix between the neo-Gothic French style and Art Nouveau, which was immensely popular in the city at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. See Casa Fenoglio-Lafleur, a beautiful house that immediately strikes the eye for the wonderful floral friezes that cover the facade, the wrought-iron balconies, and the splendid polychrome glass. Visit Villino Raby, which is one of Pietro Fenoglio's masterpieces. The wrought iron railings lead to the rooms with the large bow-window and the decorations of the master Domenico Smeriglio. See the Chiesa di Gesù Nazareno which built at the start of the 20th century as part of a project by architect Giuseppe Gallo. Constructed in the neo-Gothic style with Art Nouveau influences, the building is dominated by the high bell tower, with a richly decorated facade.  As part of the tour, enjoy a coffee in a traditional café, also built in the Art Nouveau style.

Very knowledgeable guide and great introduction to Turin

Natalia took us on the three-hour walking tour of Turin. We'd never visited the city and were delighted to learn of its deep history and importance, from the Celts all the way to the invention of Martini, headquarters of FIAT, and more! Natalia is a local and can tell you the history of just about every building (if you want to know) and I can't imagine a more insightful and knowledgeable guide. Our tour covered the salient features of the central area of the city (mostly within the old Roman walls) including some parts outside. By the end of the tour we felt we knew the place pretty well. I'd much rather take a historical walk with Natalia than sit in one of those double decker buses and listen to an automated voice describe the monuments.

Great way to learn about Turin

Natalia was a great guide and she showed us the important architectual highlights of this wonderful city. Also very helpfull for any other questions we had. If you want to know more about Turin, book this tour!
