The trip was well organised, although I booked 2 tickets and because the minivan was full we weren’t able to sit together. I know that for some people is not a big deal but if you spent almost 5 hours in a car we would prefer to sit together, especially it was my partner’s birthday. The tour guide was excellent, very funny and knowledgeable. Also went beyond my expectations when he asked us for a lunch preference and I don’t like meat or salmon, he made sure that the restaurant prepare something different for me and it was delicious!

  • Pinhão: Rabelo Boat 1-Hour Guided Tour

    3. Pinhão: Rabelo Boat 1-Hour Guided Tour

Navigate on a unique river, in the heart of the oldest wine demarcated region in the world and also a UNESCO world heritage site. You start from Pinhão, pass under the Eiffel iron bridge going up stream until the Roncão area where you turn around and return to Pinhão. Along the way you’ll see hills of terraced vineyards until the river, with no national roads or traffic in sight. Although you do the same stretch up and down, it could very well be a different one, because seeing it in one direction and then on the other creates two completely different points of view and sights. The traditional rabelo boats have open and closed areas, so navigation can be comfortably made in all kinds of weather, all year long.

Peaceful river cruise, a great change from other more active experiences. I actually didn't think I would like it very much, but I did. Definitely recommended.

  • Douro Valley: Winery Tour at Quinta do Tedo and Tastings

    4. Douro Valley: Winery Tour at Quinta do Tedo and Tastings

Embark on an adventure to the heart of Portugal’s Douro Valley, surrounded by terraced vineyards that climb high above the dramatic confluence of the Douro and Tedo rivers. There lies an 18th-century estate, Quinta do Tedo. Enjoy a full tour of Quinta do Tedo, which includes explanations of the vineyards and the olive orchards. Learn more about Porto and red wine production, foot treading in the lagers, aging in the 18th-century cellars, bottling, and hand-labeling.  At the end of the tour, taste the Quinta do Tedo's Portos and red wines overlooking the Douro River in the renovated 18th-century tasting room. The Quinta’s 100% estate-grown organic grapes come from 37 acres of class "A" vineyards, the highest rating from the Portuguese Instituto do Vinhos do Douro e Porto, comparable to France's Grand Cru.

Nice tour guide, interesting information and good tasting experience. Breathtaking view. Excellent value for money!

It goes exactly the same route as the non private tour but I am really glad we did it this way. Got to talk with the captain and sit wherever we wanted. Also a smaller boat so closer to the nature.

Very relaxing, informative, and fun excursion. Paulo was an amazing guide, great energy and had alot of knowledge about the region and wine. He really cares to make sure you are comfortable and enjoying yourself. The lunch was also top notch! Although Porto is known for their Port Wine it would have been nice to taste and visit wineries that produce still wine as well. However you do get to enjoy still wine with the lunch. Overall I enjoyed myself.

This is a must-do tour. Ivo, our guide, was extremely knowledgable ... as well as being very entertaining. The two farms visited gave a good overview of the industry - one being a small farm, the other a very large scale operation. The lunch was top class too. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can only highly recommend this activity.

Great trip to the heart of the Douro valley wine producing region with visit to small Port producing estate. Excellent add-on to a short stay on Porto.

Jam packed day, good stops for tastings, lovely restaurant for lunch and great boat ride. Couldn’t ask for more.
