Río Celeste National Park Hike

1. Río Celeste National Park Hike

Once we arrive to the Río Celeste National Park, you may use the facilities to get ready and look at the information booth provided by the Río Celeste National Park. We will then begin a hike through the dense, lush, tropical rainforest that surrounds the Río Celeste National Park. The hike is approximately 3-miles long and considered intermediate. You and your naturalist guide go at your own pace and you'll learn interesting things about the rainforest along the way. We then arrive to "Los Teñíderos" where two rivers come together to form the celestial, turquoise blue water color that gives the waterfall its name "Celeste." We'll return, walking back through the Rio Celeste National Park to the "Ollas" -- or mud baths -- and take a moment to relax in the natural hot springs. For the grand finale, we then walk-on further to see the spectacular Río Celeste waterfall - the perfect place to take photos. We finish off with a delicious lunch at a local restaurant and then head back to La Fortuna. Please note: the Río Celeste waterfall may lose its blue color during rainstorms. Our policy is to advise clients the day of the tour if it is raining in the area and offer the tour for the following day, should clients want to postpone or change to a different tour. No refunds for inclement weather.

Guanacaste White Water Rafting and Transfer from Arenal

2. Guanacaste White Water Rafting and Transfer from Arenal

Ride the class 3-4 rapids of the River Tenorio in Guanacaste Province during a full-day transfer from La Fortuna and Monteverde in the Arenal Volcano area. Following a pick-up from your hotel, drive the scenic roads along Lake Arenal, and enjoy views of the volcano before heading towards Guanacaste Province. Upon arrival in the isolated backroads of Guanacaste, transfer by 4WD vehicle to the Rio Tenorio. The local supplier has arranged a public river entrance with government approval as part of their “People + Planet = Prosperity” project. Here, rafting guides will kit you out with all necessary equipment and brief you on safety regulations. Then, raft the rapids of the river on a 2.5-hour adventure, taking in views of the impressive canyon along the way. Enjoy more than 20 exciting rapids of churning water, breaking for fruit snacks. Hike to a waterfall, looking for local wildlife such as iguanas, tropical birds and monkeys. End your adventure with an exciting 10-foot waterfall drop! Return to the private Desafío river exit, and hike to a waiting 4WD vehicle for the drive out of the unspoiled region of Costa Rica. After a delicious lunch, freshen up in the changing rooms and transfer to Guanacaste Beach in time for a glorious sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

La Fortuna Bird Watching Tour with Naturalist Guide

3. La Fortuna Bird Watching Tour with Naturalist Guide

See Costa Rica's amazing variety of bird life on this birdwatching tour from La Fortuna. Depending on the season, and the best birding options available, either head up near the Arenal Volcano by the Arenal Lake, or visit the El Silencio Nature Reserve or Finca Luna Nueva. The elusive tropical birds of Costa Rica are best spotted in the morning, so you'll rise early and begin your jungle adventure in the morning. Spot all kinds of wildlife, like toucans, parrots, oropendolas, colorful tanagers, or wild parakeets. Your guide will help you spot species such as Royal Flycatchers, White-fronted Nunbirds, and Cinnamon Woodpeckers, discussing each variety with you and marking them down in your guide book.
