Full description
Explore the ruins of Pompeii on a 2-hour guided tour, and travel back to the days of the Roman Empire. Meet your guide by the old Porta Marina Superiore for a tour of the western part of Pompeii, site of the most important public buildings, homes, and shops. Step into the shoes of the Roman citizens of Pompeii as you walk the same streets that they walked. Learn how the town was buried under molten ash and lava by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. Your guide will bring the Roman Republic to life for an intense experience as you discover remarkably intact structures and learn how the Romans lived both in public and private. Hear why UNESCO inscribed Pompeii and Herculaneum on the World Heritage Patrimony list for their "complete and vivid picture of society and daily life at a specific moment in the past that is without parallel anywhere in the world." Discover highlights such as the Basilica (Court House), and Forum, center of political and social life during the Roman Empire. See the Lupanar (brothel), House of the Faun, Termopolium Capuano, and House of the Tragic Poet. Marvel at plaster casts of humans and animals at the moment of their death, and go to a bakery where you can still see the remains of the utensils, and even the food!

Our guide Giancarlo was amazing , very informative and attentive to our group of 6 , we were travelling with a lady in a wheelchair and he always included her whilst talking and we were able to go at a slower pace rather than being in a large group tour so much better than the cruise line tour . Well organised with text confirmation / telephone call the day before confirming place to meet and name of our guide . Totally recommend

Paolo our tour guide was excellent!

Communications with the tour company Askos prior to the tour was efficient. Paolo (guide) was great at explaining and keeping us engaged throughout the tour, and was happy to answer our questions and provide tips for the rest of our day! We would have definitely missed out on interesting facts of Pompeii if we went by ourselves. Highly recommend the company and guide.

Excellent organization, Anna, the guide, a punctual, courteous and very prepared girl. Graduated in archeology, she is an official guide, didactically grown on the spot and has satisfied every question, from the most obvious to the most curious, demonstrating experience and great culture, both general and of the site. The agency is absolutely serious, the perfect meeting point located near a convenient parking and the funicular stop. Absolutely to recommend, professionals.
