From San Juan: Bioluminescent Bay Boat Tour and Hot Springs

1. From San Juan: Bioluminescent Bay Boat Tour and Hot Springs

Embark on an adventure to a bioluminescent bay on this trip from San Juan. See the hot springs, feast on a hot dinner in a local restaurant, and visit a sand bar, before heading out to the bay and swimming in the luminous water. After pickup from your hotel, relax on the drive to the southwest and the first stop at the hot springs. From there you will dine on fresh fish, chicken, or vegetable tacos at a local restaurant. After dinner, you will visit the sand bar and once night has fallen, cruise to the bioluminescent bay where you will be amazed by the glowing landscape that awaits. At the bay, jump in the water to really experience this unique phenomenon, which is a true feast for the eyes. Enjoy some free time to swim and play in the water and admire the striking glow of the microorganisms that surround you. At the end of an unforgettable day, dry off on the boat then sit back and relax on the journey to your accommodation.

What people are saying about Ponce

This trip was worth our time. Cruz was our guide, very professional, attentive, knowledgeable, kind and fun! The stop at the mineral spring was very relaxing. The stop for the meal was great and we happened upon a local art festival adding to the fun. The van and boats are top notch, and we enjoyed the sun set while we swam in the ocean at a sand bar before cruising to the bio-bay. We swam in the bio-bay with pool noodles which allowed leg and arm kicking and splashing to really stir the glow and it was so amazing. I would recommend this company, and trip for all ages, however you must be able to climb in a boat and strong enough to climb up the boat ladder. Bring a warm sweatshirt, beach towel and dry shorts to dry off and stay warm. It gets chilly in the evening, our trip was in February.

We really enjoyed the tour despite the long drive. Our guide Cruz and captain Frank were great and made sure we have the best time! Thank you! On a long ride to the bay it was nice to stop halfway at Como Hot Springs. After dinner in La Parguera we were able to swim in Sand Bar and catch a beautiful sunset before venturing out to the bio bay. It wasn’t as bright as pictures show but we were able to see bioluminescent when you moving your hands and it is magical! This was a magical experience and words or pictures would not able to deliver this experience!

This was such a cool experience! I will honestly say I was skeptical at first, but the trip and experience was well worth the money. The stop at the hot spring seems a bit out of place, but it breaks up the drive across the island. The tacos at the bar were nothing special (maybe I'm a taco snob...), but we didn't sign up to eat tacos! Our guides were phenomenal--shout out to Captain Frank!

Knowledgeable and friendly tour guide and boat captain (Cruz and Frank) make this a fantastic experience. We were picked up at our Isla Verde hotel and driven through the mountains to the southwestern corner of PR. Be prepared to be gone 8-9 hours, as you’re seeing 3 attractions that aren’t close to San Juan. Bring extra towels and a sweater, as you’ll be in and out of water 3 times.

Amazing trip to Hot Springs, nice dinner, and wonderful boat trip in the Bio Bay. The last was a once in a lifetime experience
