Full description
Meet your guide at the Praça Gomes Teixeira, also known as the Lion's Square, and go for a walk through the historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For those who don't have much time but want to see Porto's essential sites, you can see the main landmarks of the city on a quicker route. Get to know the city's history and how it developed with the arrival of the Romans. Learn more about the Moorish and Castilian invasions and the more recent one in the 19th century by Napoleon's troops. Pass by the Lello & Irmão bookstore, frequented by J. K. Rowling. Then visit the Clerics Church. Shortly after, arrive at São Bento Railway station built on the site of a former Benedictine convent inside the walled city. This is also one of the landmarks of the city and one of the most well-known stations in the world. Then see Carmo and Carmelitas church and learn about its history. Go on to visit the Old Relation jail and see Porto's main avenue. You will also visit the Cathedral and go explore the alleyways around Porto.  Your tour will end in the Ribeira area.

Good coverage of the old town, we tried the pastry shop recommend and it was the best. We appreciated learning the rich history given. Gives a pretty building meaning. This city is so scenic. Loved our guide.

Our guide was friendly, personable and knowledgeable.

We saw the old city highlights but our tour was led by a first-time guide and he was learning the ropes and he struggled in English. The more experienced guide who accompanied him eventually took over and was knowledgeable and fluent in English, but she wasn’t animated and didn’t engage the group. We felt ourselves losing interest. We also had 4 members of the group who arrived late, asked for another language and repeatedly held us up until they were finally shunted off on another tour. Overall, not the experience we were hoping for
