Milan: Cinque Terre Full-Day Guided Trip With Cruise

1. Milan: Cinque Terre Full-Day Guided Trip With Cruise

Explore the Cinque Terre, one of Italy's most scenic landscapes, on a guided day trip from Milan by van. See the "Five Lands" (translation of "Cinque Terre") from different perspectives from a boat and a train. These five enchanting medieval villages cling to the coast, offering a breathtaking sight of the sea and are now part of a national park listed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. After leaving Milan by coach, arrive in Monterosso al Mare, the largest of the Cinque Terre's five villages. Take your time exploring this small fisherman town, before boarding a boat for a trip to Vernazza to visit this nice village. It is one of the five towns (Cinque Terre) that makes up the Cinque Terre region. With no car traffic it remains one of the truest "fishing villages" on the Italian Riviera. Restaurants, bars, and accommodation all have an endearingly homespun air about them. From Monterosso, start the final leg of your journey: a 1.5-hour boat cruise, where you can admire the stunning views of the Cinque Terre and the delightful village of Portovenere from the sea. Arrive at La Spezia where your coach will be waiting to take you back to Milan.

From Florence: Private Full-Day Tour of the Ligurian Coast

4. From Florence: Private Full-Day Tour of the Ligurian Coast

Admire the sight of the white marble quarries of the Apuan Alps as you drive through the "azure motorway" along a stretch of Tyrrhenian coast, before entering the Liguria territory. Soon you will reach Riomaggiore, a beautiful village of the Cinque Terre, characterized by medieval coloured tower-houses, steps, alleys and small squares, between two steep terraces.  From here, you will take a train to Manarola, the small village of the Cinque Terre in the gorge of a high promontory among vines, olive trees and fragrant Mediterranean maquis. The next small village in the Cinque Terre lies in the gorge of a high promontory among vines and olive trees. You continue onward and reach Vernazza, one of the most beautiful hamlets in Italy, a jewel perched on a rocky promontory which stretches out towards the sea with a small port against green hills. Admire the houses from the beach with the colours tarnished by salt and disappear among the lanes with dozens of shops. Indulge in the seafood cuisine served in a traditional Italian restaurant. Next admire the beauty of the Cinque Terra from the sea in a boat along the stretch of water between Vernazza and Portovenere. The cruise will require one hour of navigation embracing the arch of the beautiful rugged coast featuring the picturesque villages you have just visited. Portovenere awaits you following the cruise and is a gemstone rich in history and art, nestled amongst a breathtaking and unique natural landscape. Take a walk along the seaside and among the shops that sell authentic products and local handicrafts then visit the Gothic Church of San Pietro (1198), decorated with the typical white and black bands, perched on top of a high promontory and built on the remains of a Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Venus. Then, at the tour’s conclusion, admire the medieval sculptures of the Collegiate of San Lorenzo (1130) and the imposing Castello Doria overlooking the hamlet. In case of adverse weather conditions, the transfer will take place by minivan instead of by boat.

Livorno Shore Excursion to Portovenere & Cinque Terre

5. Livorno Shore Excursion to Portovenere & Cinque Terre

Meet your private driver/guide beside your ship at 08:00 AM for the 1.5-hour drive to the delightful fishing village of Portovenere, with its tall and colorful waterfront houses. Enjoy memorable sea views from the promontory where the Church of San Pietro stands. Its Gothic Genovese style dates back to 1256-1277. The church was built on the remains of an early Christian church and Byzantine abbey with parts of a heathen temple from the Roman age. At the foot of the promontory, there is a small grotto named after Lord Byron who took refuge here. From Portovenere, you'll begin your adventure through the five lands of the Cinque Terre, a landscape so unique that in 1998 it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A great way to discover this area is from the sea. You'll have the option of departing from the harbor to enjoy a ferry ride (additional cost) to Vernazza, a great stop for lunch at a restaurant set on the cliffs, looking out across the bay (lunch at own expense). The ferry journey will take you past Riomaggiore and Manarola with great photo opportunities from the sea.  Meet up with your driver and visit either Corniglia set up on the hill or enjoy a stroll around Riomaggiore or Manarola. You could continue on to the larger and busier town of Monterosso, but please note it is not possible to stop at all the villages in one day and for this tour, it is best to keep the day as flexible as possible and see where your journey will take you. At some places, you may wish to consider using the train and if the weather and sea conditions are good, the local ferry will be recommended. Wherever your journey takes you, you will return with wonderful memories to your ship in the port of Livorno at approximately 05:00 PM.

We took this guided trip to Cinque terre. It was definitely worth the money and convenience. The bus was very comfortable and equipped. The guide Sabrina was very nice. The are of Cinque Terre is very beautiful. It was a good 1 day trip and not very tiring due to the way they had arranged the transportation between bus, train and boat. There was also time in between for lunch and stroll around the villages

Overall it’s good , except for each location , the time given can be lengthen , taking into consideration the exploration requires time both to view and photograph .
