Enjoy a 4WD adventure in Europe’s only desert landscape on this scenic drive through the Tabernas Desert, situated between the Sierra de los Filabres and the Sierra de Alhamilla. Boasting over 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, annual rainfall of a mere 200 millimeters and temperatures ranging from 23° F to 118° F (-5°C to 48°C), the gray tones of the desert’s gullies, ravines, and other geological formations turn golden when the sun rests on them at sunset. Essential to the history of cinema in Almeria, Tabernas Desert served as a location for hundreds of movies, including “Lawrence of Arabia.” Dozens of spaghetti westerns, such as “A Fistful of Dollars, “For a Few Dollars More,” and “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly,” gave rise to an era of rampant shooting. Leave Granada city centre in the morning from your hotel or a convenient location nearby. Delve straight into the unique landscape of Granada Geopark.  Pass by picturesque villages on your way to your first stop, Acequia del Toril. Learn about how this natural aqueduct was formed over the centuries. Wander around the vast vegetation that covers the Acequia and the arid landscape that surrounds it. Next up is Gorafe, one of the most picturesque towns in Granada. Explore and immerse yourself in one of the most remarkable natural deserts in Europe. Enjoy an impressive panorama full of different shapes, colors, and sensations. Visit the typical cave houses and well-preserved Dolmens of the Megalithic Park. Continue your tour to the village of Zujar and take pictures of the breathtaking panoramic view of Mirador de Jabalcon. Look down on the Quaternary sediments of the basin and learn about its geological history from your local guide. Uncover the beauty of the Geopark of Granada on a half-day 4x4 tour from Galera city. Take in the caves and ravines of the Cueva de los Amos or Cortijo De Ros. View an oasis bordered by harsh desert landscapes. Meet your guide at a bar in Galera and hop aboard a comfy and air-conditioned vehicle and set off the northern heart of the Geopark of Granada. Go on back roads along the Guardal River and its exuberant plain, a privileged oasis surrounded by badlands. Reach Los Carriones we will leave the valley to go to the high areas where the Espartales neighborhood and the steppe areas reveal a stunning barren landscape that was once source of life. View traditional Spanish cortijo estates and old plaster mines along the way. Spot caves and ravines as you travel through places like Cueva de los Amos or Cortijo De Ros. Explore unique geological formations such as the Galera Sismitas. Return to your starting point in Galera at the end of your tour.

Come and enjoy our guided tour with Malcamino's horses. ----- Participants have to be at rancho 10 min. before the activity starts. Arrival, free parking at rancho and welcome by the instructor. Individual set up: preparation of each one for the ride. It's possible to bring water and a small snack for the tour. Saddlebag optional. Once all the participants are ready, the monitor will introduce horse and rider, then, a small training will take place for first contact between them, also to see all riders are coordinated in their level. Departure for the 3 hours tour by the desert. The instructor will give the proper instructions to enjoy as much as possible the riding tour and will explain Desert curiosities. During the tour the monitor will do small stops for rest and will propose the 3 gaits of the horse to enjoy the riding. The horse riding tour finishes at rancho Malcamino's where the participants will be able to have picnic (not included) if they bring with them (gable tent acconditioned for rest).
