Uros islands are interesting in that they are floating and the tour explains how they are made. Amantani was less touristic. It is the difference between tourism performed and tourism with integrity. You stay with a family and get a chance to have some conversation if you speak Spanish. Otherwise, you simply get to see how people live which is worth it in itself. Don't plan on fancy toilets. You pour a bucket of water placed next to the outhouse to flush. A good time to have remembered toilet paper. The hiking is definitely moderate on both days. There is a lot of uphill.

Unforgettable, truly indescribable in words, an experience that I will carry in my heart for a lifetime. We saw the Uros floating islands, learned how they are built, took a ride on the "banana" boat, saw the Amantani islands, learned their culture and welcomed by a local family with whom we ate, slept, and danced in the evening with the their typical clothes on, trekking at sunset. and then the last day of the Taquile islands where they too have been told their story down to the smallest detail

Great excursion, the only downside is that we were a group of 4 homestays but our family didn't really share their daily life. We ate at 4 apart in the dining room. The mother and daughter were in the next kitchen and the rest of the family in another building. It's like taking an airbnb without the comfort, it loses all the interest of going homestay. This didn't seem to be the case in all families.
