Full description
You’ll be picked up at your Puno accommodation at the beginning of this full-day excursion to Lake Titicaca. An English-speaking guide will accompany you as you travel to the lake’s islands of Uros and Taquille. Uros is a group of islands whose buildings are made entirely of tortora reeds. It is home to a small community that dates back to pre-Inca times. Spend some time with the local residents before continuing on to Taquile – an island whose culture is more closely related to that of the Aymara people of Bolivia. You’ll enjoy a locally prepared lunch on the island before visiting the local cooperative and seeing first-hand the skill of the local weavers. Return to Puno and to your lodge after a unique look at the cultures of these islands.

Visiting Uros island was quite good. It was interesting to learn how the islands are built. And also to go over it. The boat ride to Taquille was a little long. But we had good weather, so you could still enjoy it. Lunch on the island was ok. We had the choice between fish or omelets. Otherwise there isn't really much to see there.

Culturally interesting

The lake and the two islands are very beautiful. The people have different customs and the tourist has the opportunity to know them a little. The organization of the tour needs to be greatly improved: for four hours (two in the morning and two in the afternoon) the guide said it was "siesta time" and went to sleep. During this time, could you not have told us about geography, customs, etc.?

Excellent organization

I went on other excursions to Peru and this one was by far the best on an organizational level. The day before I was contacted by Carmen who informed me of the pick-up time and what I should have brought with me. The following day she was punctual with a private transfer, she made me sit in the best places on the boat and was waiting for me on my return. The boat that offers this tour is the fastest and most comfortable one in Puno, so it allows you to have more time to visit the islands. I have heard of other tourists who had taken tours with old and slow boats to save money and were disappointed with the service. The restaurant lunch was also good, with a final show from some local people. The star less is only because I expected better from the island of Taquile (nothing special).
