Since the top deck, which has the best views, is unprotected, the level of enjoyment is very dependent on the weather. The weather in the Firth of Forth varies between stunning to cold and wild. Chose your day carefully. The Abbey and the Inchcolm island are well worth the 90 minute landing, even for children.

Living in the area I can’t believe I’ve never done this trip before. We took a picnic and the weather was lovely. It was well organised and a great day out. We hadn’t realised South Queensferry would be so busy but one of the car parks had been taken over by the funfair. Next time we’ll be sure to arrive earlier in time to park the car.

Reservation made with ease, our tickets were waiting for us when we arrived at the dock. Pleasant boat trip with some explanations of the surroundings. The visit to the island was superb, and that of the abbey too. In summary, it was a great discovery and a good time spent in Edinburgh!
