The cruise is a scenic alternative to traveling by train or road. The cruise takes approximately 3-hours & 30-minutes & passes some of the most picturesque parts of the River Thames including Syon reach with its tree lined banks. Keep an eye out for various wildlife including herons, geese & mandarin ducks.

Your session will start with a safety briefing and some land-based training on the riverbank or our pontoon near Richmond Bridge. This typically takes 15-20 minutes depending on group size. We will introduce you to the kayaking equipment, teach you about safety and navigation on the river, as well as paddle techniques, including how to steer, stop and self-rescue. We will then head out onto the river, either upstream towards Eel Pie Island and Teddington or downstream towards Richmond Lock, Isleworth, Kew Gardens and Chiswick, depending on the tide. The distance actually covered will depend on wind and tide conditions on the day.

The cruise takes place on a traditional river Thames passenger boat with indoor & outdoor seating, a fully licensed bar & toilet facilities. This trip provides a variety of opportunities from a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew or Hampton Court Palace to a long lunch at one of Kew or Richmond’s many riverside pubs & restaurants. Alternatively, passengers can travel from Kew, Richmond, or Hampton Court to Westminster to explore the City of Westminster in their own time & travel back to their point of origin via National Rail Services or London Underground.

The distance actually covered will depend on wind and tide conditions on the day. You do not need to be a proficient swimmer, but should be comfortable with falling into water while wearing a buoyancy aid. A certain level of flexibility and ability to get up to standing from kneeling is required for learning to paddleboard.
